Any tips on how to worry less- anxiety related

So while I don't think that I am suffering from PPD, I think I may be feeling some form of post partum anxiety (does that even exist)

I have always been a worrier by nature and expected that I would worry alot about my child. The first 6-8 weeks of my DD's life she was extremely colicy and most of my time was spent trying to calm and sooth her. I barely worried at all during that time because I literally didn't have time, all my energy was spent trying to calm her.

Fast forward to now, DD just turned two months last week and my worry has gotten INSANELY bad in the last few weeks. I literally am worrying about her almost every waking moment. I worry about her milestones, I worry about something happening to her, or something being wrong with her. I looks stuff up on the internet and make myself crazy. I worry that I am going to make the wrong decisions about something and that it will affect her in some adverse way.

Clearly I know I have a problem and that this is going beyond the normal amount of worry. I have an appointment scheduled with my doctor and am completely willing to go on medicine, and am looking into therapy.

Mostly I am just wondering if there is anyone out there who has felt the same way, and if there was anything other than meds or therapy that helped them get past alot of the worry.

Sorry for the long post, it even felt good just to type it all out :)

Re: Any tips on how to worry less- anxiety related

i have to say, i never had anxiety. i now have awful anxiety, and i most of it is not about dd. but about the decisions i make and the life im creating for her. am i making the right living arrangement choices?, what schools should i be putting her in? will i regret her not having her own room right now? will i create a monster by doing this or that? i worry about what other people think?

so i personally have to take things one day at a time. i am willing to go on medicine but at this point i dont feel i need it. i can absolutely talk myself down and redirect myself to think about something else as to ease the anxiety (most of the time) some days im BEGGING for someone to give me a xanax just so i can take a breather.Chat Icon

i think just the fact that you've addressed that thers a problem, made an apt. with the doc and are looking into theraphy your on the right track! hang in there i feel like my hormones played a HUGE roll in it! i started bcp and have been feel a bit better like im regulating again!

When DD was around that age I remember googling every little thing and freaking out internally that she wasn't doing this yet and that yet...I still do it sometimes, but now I just post my freak outs on here Chat Icon Anyway, I do think it's normal to a point...def talk to you Dr. about it and see what he/she has to say, but I do know that my anxiety level after having DD definitely went up a notch, but I think that comes with the territory of being a parent...Chat Icon

Are you going back to work soon? Or do you have some change coming up? I know for me that when I have a change, I tend to overanalyze and stress over everything. Once I get into a routine, the anxiety passes. The worrying is always worse than the actual event. If this doesn't pass then I would talk to your doctor. Good luck! Chat Icon
