Anyone hear anything about how much longer we can expect to be in the dark?

Based on the number of outages... i am not expecting to have power anytime soon (I have no power as well).
I was lucky to score a generator on craigslist from somebody who wasn't trying to gouge on the price. Got his lowes receipt and everything. 
Last time this happened I was without power for almost four days. And there were only half as many outages that time as this time.

Power restored in S. Lindenhurst and Baldwin as of 2 hrs ago...LIPA is doing the best they can...

It's going to depend on where you are- some areas have been restored already...I think they give you an estimate when you call the 1800 number to report it- but again that's just an estimate

I live in hicksville and just reported a down line next store, and they said it could be day before the power is restored, they said they are doing the best they can. the lady was very nice from LIPA

They aren't giving estimates........and it really depends on where you are and what went wrong

I just saw a press conference on News 4 with Cuomo and Mangano... they both said that LIPA is doing the best they can and trying very hard but that it could be days. Cuomo went on to kind of narrow it down and said anywhere from 2-6 days, but hopefully sooner. I think they are trying to give a worst-case scenario and HOPE for better. So, by saying 2-6 days people can maybe prepare themselves for a long time -- then, if it comes on sooner they'll be thrilled. I guess it is better than saying 24 hours and some people have to wait 3 days KWIM??
They were referencing all of Long Island -- Suffolk as well as Nassau.

my sister lost power in east rockaway at 4am and had it back on by 1030 this morning
we lost power at around noon today...no idea when it will be on

No power on my block in Lynbrook since 2 am (but surrounding blocks have power). DH called LIPA and was told they can't give an estimate as they're dealing with 500K without power.
Until the power comes back, I'm staying put in NJ. DH is going to check on the house though.

We lost power at 2 am, it came back on for an hour and turned off again at 8 am. They just fixed it about half an hour ago.

I'm in Commack (TOH), lost power at 8am. Still nothing. We keep going for rides to charge phones and iPads in the car.

None here yet...we have a generator but don't know how to use it :(
Start it up and run and extension cord to the house. I then plugged a surge protector into it and plugged in my fridge, TV and computer. They are pretty simple to use.
We were without power for 4 hours here in W. Islip. We are back up and running now.

How did they get an estimate? My mom has none, and I called to report it and ask, but just got recordings saying they hadn't assessed damage yet and had no idea.

not all of bay shore. We are just north of sunrise in brightwaters farms and haven't had power since 7am.

we lost power at 1:45 am and it came back on a little while ago 8:45 pm. Has flickered since then...
ppl across street don't have power still though.
