Anybody ever get poison ivy while pregnant?
I have it and it's gone from bad to worse. On the third day of having it (yesterday) it finally seemed like it was healing and getting better and then I woke up today with it ALL over my arms and hands and back. I happen to have a doctor's appointment tomorrow anyway, so I'm going to ask what can be done (What CAN be done...does anybody know?), but until then, any advice on what I can do for relief? The lotions I've been using only work temporarily.

Did you find out if calamine was okay?
Where did you get poison ivy?

Did you find out if calamine was okay?
Where did you get poison ivy?
I have a lotion called Technu, which is specifically for poison ivy that's okay to use, but it's just not relieving me for too long. It's also supposed to stop the spreading which it has failed to do.
I was gardening and pulling some weeds outside. I was wearing gloves, but naturally I have amazing luck. DH called and I had the phone outside. I took the gloves off, somehow managed to touch the phone with the glove, transferring the poison ivy to the phone, and then when I put the phone to my ear, the poison ivy got on my ear. That's where it started and it quickly spread to my face and front of my neck

Just so you know---if you have the shoes you were wearing when you got the poison ivy, get them cleaned and anything else for that matter. The oils that are on the ivy plant can live on the item for up to a year. So whenever you touch it you can get it again. My mom got it a couple of years ago and it was recurring so she went to her doc and he told her all this never told poison ivy info and she followed his suggestions and was cured!!!!

OMG...never thought of all that. She could be tracing this through her house! Yikes!
My advice...stop gardening and DH owes you BIGGGG!!!!!!!!!

I had poison oak before I knew I was pg with Miranda, and they gave me Prednisone because the lotions weren't working. The doctors said it was safe and wouldn't hurt the baby.

Well, my doc did NOTHING. Said I could keep putting lotion on it. Tomorrow will make a full week that I've had this and if anything, it's worse than before. I go back to the doc on August 3rd and if it's still not better by then, he'd better do something for me. I'm really getting sick of being treated like my problems aren't a big deal

YEah, definiely make your doctor give you something if it isn't gone by then! Also, one of the things that my doc told me was to take cold showers (it stopped the itching for a while). Also, anything that you think you could have touched when you had the oil on your hands, rub down with alcohol. When I had it I rubbed down the phone, remote, doorknobs, light swithces, car keys, etc.

My husband is a landscaper and gets poison ivy about 3 times a year. I put calmine lotion, I also read in a magazine that listerine mouth wash helps with the itching and aveno oatmeal baths. all of them work for him.

Wow...listerine...I never would have thought, but you know what? I tried a little bit and it's the best I've felt so far. Crazy! I also have aveeno, so I'm going to take a bath tonight. Thanks!
