Anyone been to the DMV lately?
I was just curious if anyone has been to the DMV lately without an appointment and if its been as crazy with waits as I've been hearing...
I have to upgrade my license to a Real ID. I went to go make an appointment online hoping I would be able to go on a day next month that I took off work for a meeting that I have for my son in the afternoon, but I see they are not booking appts until well into May, and even then the last appointment is 5:15 so I'd have to leave work early to get there. I was thinking of just walking in the day I'm off next month, but do you think if I show up in the morning at like 9am, that I'd be out in 2 hours?

I went to Garden City on 2/12 to get an enhanced ID. I had an appointment for 1:15. I waited an hour and my number was called. They processed the info/new pic, etc but then I had to sit and wait again (2 hours) just to pay. I don't understand that!?
People sitting near me did not have appointments and were waiting 4 hours (and their number wasn't called).

My girlfriend works at the Haupauge location. They are open till 6 but it isn't listed as such when you look them up on Google.
She says it dies down about 4 because people think they close at 4.

that is when i am going

My husband had an appointment earlier in the month to upgrade his license to an enhanced one and he was in and out within an hour. Massapequa location.

The Medford office is still crazy. My kids’ pediatrician is in the same shopping center. There was a line outside today at 10am and the parking lot was a nightmare.

I wnt here two weeks ago and wss in and out in 30 minutes. I had an appointment but to be honest, I didn't need one. My appointment was for 415.

Anyone been to the DMV lately?
Recently had to go for new vehicle registration & plates. We made an appointment & were in & out in less than an hour (Bethpage). My FH will be upgrading to RealID. The first appointment we were able to get in January was for March. We asked the clerk if the appointment helps & she said absolutely.

Anyone been to the DMV lately?
I haven’t had to go but I pass Riverhead daily. It’s been nuts. Nowhere to park in the lot. They had a huge trailer there as the DMV “mobile office” and huge flashing signs encouraging people to renew online and avoid the office trip!!

Anyone been to the DMV lately?
I've been a few times recently for vehicle related transactions because I sold my late mother's car. I never really waited for long for those transactions. But, when I went recently to give back the license plates for the last time, it was a mob scene in there. I was in and out in 15 minutes (never made an appointment), but they announced that the wait for drivers license transactions was going on 5 hours, and this was at 4pm! This was garden city.

its better to go late in the day close to closing. Most people are done and out. I did it this way and was out in an hour

My dad did this in December. I tried to make an appointment for him but there was nothing available for a long while. He just walked in to the DMV and was out in just over an hour. I was surprised it was so quick!

Anyone been to the DMV lately?
I made an appointment at 4:30 PM at the end of January for the Medford DMV to get the Real ID license. I was prepared to wait for the long haul and it was PACKED.
I waited 15 minutes. I couldn't believe how quick it was.

Garden City with an appt in and out in 45 minutes. Without an appt was a 2+ hour wait. They were so crowded they locked the doors and stopped letting people in.

Anyone been to the DMV lately?
An appointment is always best. My husband has an appt to upgrade his license for May 1 but his job cancelled today and is attempting Medford. So far he has been there an hour and is still 300 numbers away but he is watching his netflix and waiting it out.

No. You will just need to bring your passport when you fly domestically starting in October.
