Anyone been to the Statue of liberty lately?
All DD wants to do for her 4th bday is go to the statue of liberty. I haven't been there in years but I've heard there are some pretty strict rules these days. I'm going to look into it but I thought I'd ask on here also to see if anyone has been there recently.

I believe tickets are sold out until the fall to actually go up in the statue. I also believe there is a height requirement to go up also. You can take the ferry to the grounds though and see it that way. OR you could go to Governor's Island, and see it from a distance, and have fun doing all the stuff they have on the Island.

Went last fall. There are tickets to go to island vs pedestal vs crown. We went to pedestal (we got them last minute... The week before). There is a nice museum there. Yes, they have a min height restriction on the crown. It is 4 ft... So it wouldn't have worked for us. Kids loved the trip though!

Re: Anyone been to the Statue of liberty lately?
I remember climbing to the crown with my family as a kid and it scared me. It was old and dark and creepy in there. And a long walk on narrow, spiral stairs. I actually still remember being so scared and feeling claustrophobic. I hated it. I wouldn't take my DD until she was much older. (Actually I have no desire to go back in that creepy place myself so probably never!) I wouldn't mind the pedestal museum though.

I took DD to the crown when she was 6, she had been asking to go and she loved it. After we got down she wanted to go back up. The stairs didn't frighten her, she was so excited. There is a minimun age which i believe is 4 and , my DD was under teh height requirement but since she was with me its was fine.

Now that you mention that, it was a creepy & dark in that old stairway. Maybe it's changed since then?
Either way, doubt she would want to go up anyway but good to know about the museum.
Thanks everyone!
