anyone dye their hair at home? Best brand?
I'm starting to get annoyed at my grey hairs and I think it's time to dye it.
I don't have the money to get it done and want to do it at home.....what brand should I use?

anyone dye their hair at home? Best brand?
I've tried lots of brands- I haven't found one to be any better than the other. I'm still looking for a color that will come close to my natural color, and when I do I'll stick to that.
Nice 'n Easy seems to come up a lot as "best value" etc, and they have lots of colors. A friend of mine likes Garnier because theirs is the most natural, in terms of chemicals.

I use nice and easy gray solution in light brown. On me it's a very natural color, people can't believe I color my hair or that I probably am more than 70% gray!! It's the only hair dye that covers and doesn't fade coving my grays!! And I've tried them all!!

I use the Garnier HerbaShine or the Loreal Excellence to go bc they both only have to sit for 10 mins and Ive always been very happy with the color.

Revlon.
Super cheap, tends to last, and I often get compliments.

For me, the very best has been L'Oreal Excellence. By "best", I mean best gray coverage with no visible damage to the hair from repeated coloring.
I also like Preference and Garnier Nutrisse. They also seem gentle on hair, but I find Excellence has superior gray coverage though. Feria gives beautiful results for altering your natural hair color but the I find the gray coverage was not good at all for me.
I know lots of people recommend Revlon Colorsilk, but for some weird reason it really made my hair dry and damaged. Everyone's hair is different, I think!!!

I second this!! I love this product for grey hair and for the quality of how long the color stays looking fresh!

I don't have any visible grays, and I'm blonde, so your mileage may vary. I used to swear by Revlon Colorsilk, but I'm an at-home dye job ho so I constantlyn try something new. My newest fave is Clairol Perfect 10. I think I use 7.5A and it made my hair softer, shinier and in better shape than any other dye. It's also lasting a lot longer as well, I think I'm on my 4th week and just now starting to get new growth. Also, the color was beyond gorgeous and I got soooo many compliments.

Re: anyone dye their hair at home? Best brand?
I actually just tried the John Freida boxed dye and was really impressed with how easy it was to apply (foamy formula). The end result was a bit darker than I wanted though. The color selection was minimal so, I tried to pick a color closed to my natural hair. Before this, I swore - and still do with Preference by Loreal.

I mix my own from Sally.
I like Wella Color Charm (Demi and perm) and Ion Color Briliiance
I use the Salon Care developer (10 or 20 depending on Demi or perm)
