Anyone else feel sad as their DC approached their first birthday?
It feels like just yesterday I was waiting and waiting and waiting for my DD to be born. I remember sitting on the couch just wondering when my baby was going to arrive and if it was going to be a or a . It feels like just yesterday that my water broke and I was in the hospital and the doctor announced "IT'S A GIRL!". It all seems like it was just yesterday............how is my sweet little baby girl almost a year old already??!! I wish I could stop the clock sometimes. I never thought I could love someone so much.........I want to just stay in these moments with her forever.
In the hospital - minutes after she was born
Just the other day - a little over 11 months old

YES! I was terribly depressed as my DD was about to turn 1. I really had such a hard time, I would just hold her and cry and look at pictures of her. As soon as her birthday came and went, I was fine!

This week she just started cutting her first tooth and I cried. That little gummy smile was so "baby" to me. Teeth means she's turning into a little girl.

Its so normal! My DD was a late teether and I was thrilled that she still looked like a baby. You are reminding me SO MUCH of what I was feeling.

At least it's not just me then. I felt like such a dork! Who cries over a tooth??!!.......I just feel like it's the end of the "babyhood" and she's moving towards being a toddler.

I have felt that way with the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and now almost 4th birthday....
And I don't see it stopping anytime soon,so yes I totally know what you mean ....Its very bittersweet, thats the only word for watching them grow into little people
Edited for horrendous typing errors !!!

YES! Mine are 9 months old already and I can't believe how fast time has flown. They are pretty much sleeping through the night which I prayed for and now I actually miss cuddling with them in the middle of the night
I can't believe they went from THIS:
Ronan
Declan
To This!!

I cry often when I think about how big my sons are. I too wished for some sleep at night and now they sleep 12 hours. I miss them and sometimes pick them up hahaha, I need some cuddle time.
My DH thinks i'm going to have a problem the closer they get to turning one. I also want a million kids, so I guess i'll just have some more so I can have a little baby again

I felt the ame way about her teeth. I remember her wailing as a NB and looking at her toothless gums and thinking how helpless she was. Now she's into everything!

Re: Anyone else feel sad as their DC approached their first birthday?
I cried like a baby for a week leading up to DDs birthday. On her first birthday my Aunt presented us with a DVD of a slide show she had made of hundreds of pics of DDs first year put to 4 songs. I lost it completely
DS is approaching 5 months & I just can't comprehend where the time went. I am already feeling so sad about how old he is getting. It's funny, you love them more & more as they get older, but it's still hard to lose your "baby".

I did but a very wise woman (ahem, Palebride ) pointed out how fun the time between 1 and 2 is and wow was she right. DS is at the most fun age EVER right now (almost 19 mos). Just think of the amazing times you have to come

I know you're TOTALLY right but it's hard to watch your baby change into a little toddler. I know there is so many more exciting things to look forward to but I'll miss those snugly, sleepless nights too. Guess it's time for baby #2!!!!

yes I feel the same way and DS is going on 10 months. I just want to eat him up every second of the day and want these moments to last forever with him.

I did and now I can't believe she is going to be 2 in a few weeks.
I think we want them to grow up, but then we miss them as squiry, mushy babies.
