Anyone else have a hard time determining CD1?
So, my period starts off very light. I think I might have been determining CD1 incorrectly the last two cycles (which were both off BC).
In reality, it doesn't change the length of my cycles. For both cycles, I O'd (based on EWCM and spotting) at about the same day CD26/CD28. Then I got my period or well, started spotting, two weeks after that.
Anyway-- my real question is because my period starts off so light, I have a really hard time figuring out what is spotting, and what is flow. My period is also usually very light over night as well.

I thought Day 1 was your 1st day of heavy flow...

I think the same thing, it's the first day you have heavy flow, that's what I usually consider the first day

My period acts just like yours and I always go crazy trying to figure out CD1 but I always know that I start it my first full day of red bleeding. HTH

Re: Anyone else have a hard time determining CD1?
I understand that's how you determine CD1 which is the reason for my question. But because my period is so light-- there is no real "heavy" flow at all.

Re: Anyone else have a hard time determining CD1?
I understood CD1 to be your first full day of flow - regardless of how heavy or light. I too had light cycles - 3 days long and no flow at night. I counted anything prior to 5pm as a full day.

I spot in the beginning too and have been told that CD 1 starts on the first day of heavy flow.

Re: Anyone else have a hard time determining CD1?
I too have a hard time picking which day. I get spotting, then heavy spotting, then a heavy flow.. I have no idea and I guess in the long run it is only a day or two off. But that could be a sign of low progersterone, which could cause an early miscarriage. I had an early m/c and so when I get pg again the midwife wants to run a prog. level right away after my BFP to make sure that wasn't an issue for me.
It probably isn't but my aunt had the same thing and it was low progesterone for her.

Day 1 is first day of red flow. Pink/brown spotting does not count.
ETA: Prolonged spotting or lack of red flow could be a sign of a problem. As the previous poster indicated, it could be a sign of a hormonal issue like low progesterone.
