Re: anyone else not a fan of CAC

We will be getting CAC eventually. We have a bunch of window ACs, so for the parts of the house that we are in the most, it's like "simulated CAC"... Chat Icon

It's so uncomfortable without AC, especially at night.

Also, with DC, I don't like having it too hot. I know when I'm overheating, but they don't.

I agree. We hardly ever use our AC. We turn it on for half an hour sometimes to cool the place down and then open all the windows and turn on the fans. I'm not a big fan of using so much energy to cool our home down.

You are actually using more energy by turning it on and then off...instead of leaving the temp higher when you are out for the day (78-82) and then having it go down to 72-78 when you are home. An electronic thermostat will help you keep you system more efficient.

I don't think that's true in my case. If you're going to have it on most of the time, it wastes energy turning it on and off, but we seriously use it for 30 minutes or less two or maybe three days a week. I can't imagine running an AC unit (we have a wall unit, not central) 24/7 would use less energy than that.

We didn't have it for 5 years in our house, had it installed 2 summers ago, and I couldn't live without it now! I will never buy another house with out it. Like a pp stated, it really helps with the humidity. And while I love the windows open, I hate it because I have allergies and I had having pollen all over my house in the early spring.

You're right, that applies to CAC...

Re: anyone else not a fan of CAC

We are fine with our few window and wall units..... I like the freedom I have with turning the window units on on the few days a summer (like now lol) that we feel uncomfortable in our home

I agree! I enjoy having the windows open in the spring and fall, but our CAC has been going pretty much all summer. The other nice thing is that it's very quiet. You don't have the noise of a window or wall AC.

Re: anyone else not a fan of CAC

I love CAC! Our house doesn't have it and the heat has really been bothering me lately.

We are seriously looking into pricing and etc...

We love having the windows open when it is nice out or in the cooler weather. But days like yesterday were unbearable.

I seriously don't think I could ever live without my CAC. Before we got it, and had window unit AC's, I thought that was good enough. But since having CAC...I swear, I don't know how I ever did without it.

I love having my windows open in the spring & summer when there is no humidity.

With that said, I could not live without my CAC. To come home on days like yesterday & know it is cool, makes my entire day. It doesn't matter the temperature outside, I am always comfy in my house!

couldn't have said it better! Chat Icon I love windows open but in the heat such as yesterday CAC is a relief Chat Icon Chat Icon

I am not a summer person so I love my CAC. This is our second summer with it and I am in such heaven. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I think it would be even better because if you have AC's in the windows, you could take them out and have even more window.

You don't have to put it on if you don't want. I think saves a lot of energy too.
