Anyone else not doing a newborn shoot?

I love professional newborn photos, I really do. I think they are just precious. DH doesn't really go for them. He thinks they look unnatural. At first, I was adamant that we were doing a newborn shoot, no matter what, but then I thought about all of the things that we need to spend money on for the baby, and decided that we need to save that money for other things. We'll take the standard old newborn photos in the hospital, and then we'll take tons of pic on our own. Not nearly the same as a newborn shoot, of course.

I also realized that none of my "real-life" friends and family took professional newborn photos (or professional one-year old photos, etc. aside from going to places like The Picture People).

Am I alone in not doing a newborn shoot? Do most people you know outside of LIF do them? I'm hoping I don't regret it one day.

I am doing one, but the majority of people i know outside of LIF havent even even heard of it

I DID have newborn pics taken for both of my dc. But honestly as much as I love the pictures it was an expense I could have totally done without.

I'm doing one... I have a few friends outside of LIFamilies who have had them done.

Nope.. I didn't do one with my first either. Just dont have nor wish to spend the money on it.

No one outside of the people i met on the lif ever have done a newborn shoot. and besides BRU or Sears.. no one has ever done the yearl ones either.

My SIL gifted us a photoshoot otherwise I prob wouldnt be doing them either...

Not doing it. I have an DSLR and my DH's friend has an even better DSLR so at most we might have him come by to take some pictures after we come home with the baby.

Professional shoot is just not a cost I can justify

i would love to do one, but i just can't justify the cost. Unless somebody gifts it to us, we won't be having one.

I wish I did with my DS but I had too much going on after I gave birth that is became on the back burner and because I believe it being fair with both children I will just do what we did with my son and took pictures on our own. I did do 1 year pics with Summer Lyn

I had no plans to do one. None of my friends or family members did it, and we have a pretty good camera so my husband was just going to play around after the baby was born.

What's changed is we have a friend who offered to do a mini-shoot for free. She is an aspiring photog and is looking to branch out to newborn shoots.

But seriously, if I wasn't this, I had no intention of doing one.

I didn't for my first and I didn't get any hospital photo of her the photographer couldn't find it. I'm doing them with one but I'm sorts making them about my first dd. I told the photographer i want the shoot to celebrate both girls and some shots just of mt oldest alone.

a friend did mine for my first DD. i am having professional pictures taken this time around but found a photographer who is much much more affordable and just as talented than anyone on LIF. and i'm really looking forward to having nice pictures of my new baby with my DD and family pics as well.

many friends here in NY, and all other states have done newborn pictures as well.

I did the newborn photoshoot. I treasure them and don't for a second regret it!!

I also know a bunch of my friends outside the "LIF" world that do them as well.

But it doesn't have to be for everyone else. Its for you and your husband.

I think it was worth every cent. (And you don't have to find a crazy expensive photographer either) I used Jen (www.photosbyjlm.com) She is AMAZING and reasonable!

I also did the maternity photoshoot and the one year, but the one year was also done around Christmas, so I got my christmas cards done!!

I'm using her again for another maternity shoot, new born shoot and holiday shoot! Its something I don't see as wasting money cause its something we'll have forever. And you can't go back in time and do it over.

Most people I know are not doing it and never even heard of it. I think maybe it' more of a LIF thing and maybe a LI thing, not .
I don'thave that kind of money , I'll be doing my own shoot

I didn't get them done with DC#1 & I personally still regret the decision so I am having them done with DC#2. With DC#1, it was so hard for me to take many pics of the early weeks which suck because I barely remember them.

It's just a personal decision. Whatever you decide, just be ok with it.

We chose not to do them with DD. I don't live on LI anymore but people around where I live do them sometimes. It's not just a LI thing. DH took some great pics of her when she was born... thousands probably lol. They weren't cute in little outfits and in baskets or other funny Anne Geddes type styles. But they're still our precious DD and I treasure the pictures, professional or not.

I don't think we'll do them with DS. We'll probably get pro pics done for Christmas / Holiday cards with the whole family, which is what we did last year (which was right before DD turned 1). DS will be 2 months and DD will be almost 2.

Definitely different than nb photos, but I think it'll be nice.

The only reason why we are doing them is bc we found someone affordable. We live OOS so their $'s are not as outrageous as NY.

We just did our maternity shoot. 2 hour session 1hr outdoor. 1 studio. 10 edited pics full rights on CD for $100.00

It's funny tho bc most people outside of LIF have never heard about newborn sessions, even maternity

I tried doing it for DD by myself. They came out okay.

My friend is a photographer so she will be doing this baby's pics for free.

I did it.. and honestly think its some of the best $$$ we have ever spent.. DH was wary b/c of the cost but he always says how worth it it was.. Obviously everyone feels differently.. but we will def do them with the next babies.

I don't plan to get newborn shots. We have a really good camera and I'm sure DH will be taking tons of pictures.

nope, dh doesn't think they look natural, and its alot of money that I could spend on other things and take my own pictures.

My husband is an amateur photographer so he is going to look at several professional photos and try to recreate some of them on his own. If nothing else, they will be cute to look at and much less expensive.
