Happy for them but who really cares.
I'm always shocked how the Brits don't mind how the Royal family lives so lavishly & spends so much tax money on a "lifestyle". I'd be damn ****** if I had a part in footin' the bill for the Bush, Clinton or Obama girls weddings!

Believe me, there are plenty of people who are totally anti-Royalists, plenty of them. But they don't solely live off of our tax money, Prince Charles heads a huge organic food business which brings him in a nice salary, and the Queen is a large sized land owner which also brings them in money. I think many people feel that the Royal Family are great Ambassadors for Britain and are therefore very proud of them. I just googled it and the monarchy only cost the individual taypayer under $1 each year, so really the cost isn't huge. Anywhoooo, I think one thing thats important to mention that Britain is a financial mess right now, the government is a shambles and all that stuff, but this Royal Wedding has given most people something to look forward to, a celebration of being British, a celebration of a couple who are genuinely in love (not set up like Williams parents were etc) and its just an exciting time to have parties in the streets and have a great time!

Ditto on this- but there is a good side. Someone I know is getting married the same day and I don't like her or her DH to be so I'm happy that all they're going to be talking about is the royal wedding at her wedding.

I don't care too much. I'm really curious about her dress, she has really nice style. I am, however, DVRing the wedding so that I can flip through it really quick in case there is anything else interesting. I can't wait for it to be over though. I turned off the news yesterday when they were sitting there speculating about whether the fact that her hair was in a bun is a preview to the wedding hairdo, and how long they are going to wait until having kids, etc. I don't flipping care. I guess I'll go back to watching the news on Monday...you know this is all they're going to cover all weekend too

I just wanted to see one picture of her and her dress.
That was it.
I'm not sure of the obsession- we don't seem to be as obsessed with royalty in any other country.

I wasn't interested really until about two days ago, and now I am excited about it. Funnily enough, we don't have nearly as much newscover on it as you do in the USA.
And, we all have the day off for it tomorrow!!
This is how I was up until last night! I set the DVR and after seeing pics this morning, I can't wait to get home and watch it! One of the pics I saw was of a woman wearing a shirt that said "Thanks for the day off!"

Same for me! I was like .. ehhh.. but then last night I was suddenly very excited and this morning I was just riveted to the tv. I guess I'm just really happy that there is so much hoopla about something HAPPY for a change!

I had it on when I was gettign dressed for work. For me its not a milestone or anything of importance. I guess becuase its a public display when behind the scenes he's still a playa playa. And she's goign along for a ride--like father like son so I wont go out my way to watch the details..KWIM.
