Anyone else not like wooden kitchen cabinets?
I notice nearly everyone in the States have them. It's just too much for me, I prefer white or beige.
Are there people out there who feel the same? Is it less of a trend than I think it is? Would I not be able to sell a house with a non-wood kitchen if I were to redo a kitchen?
Can I see pics of your non-wood or painted wood kitchens?

I'll post pics of my white ones later. I like the new wood because to me my white looks cheaper. I only like light wood though. I would love a light wood or white wood.
We had our condo appraised and since everything is newly redone the color of the cabinets didn't lower the price at all.

I'm not a fan of wood colored kitchens, maybe that's because I grew up with white cabinets? I like more of the country look of white cabinets... with both houses we installed white beadboard cabinets we purchased from Ikea, and we had absolutely NO problem selling our last house. In fact, we got 3 offers on the first day we put it on the market...

Thanks! We loved it so much that we pretty much replicated the same exact kitchen, just twice the size, for our new house, but with a different floor tile and a different backsplash. Personally, I think it's more classic and more timeless and won't go out of fashion as quickly as a wood cabinet kitchen with stainless steel appliances...
and p.s. - It's MUCH cheaper!  Our wood countertops cost about $400 and they're beauuuuuuuuutiful...

Our cabinets are white. They were a "distressed" color when we moved in and we painted them. My sister also just had her dark wood cabinets spray-painted white. We both had white cabinets in our last homes too, I guess it runs in the family!
I like white because I think it looks fresh and it's easy to match everything with, but I saw a model kitchen in a specialist store in my town that was yellow and it was amazing

We have antique white cabs in our kitchen - I think in a small space or country kitchen, white is nice.

Verdila - I LOVE your kitchen....
In small spaces i prefer white - that is what i had in my condo that i just sold. In larger spaces I love antique white or beige. Here is a picture from the kitchen in my condo....

I LOVE white/creamish cabinets..DH and I were having this problem because he wanted a very dark wood cabinet..I love those too but only for a very large kitchen..Luckily I was able to convince him and we ordered antique white wood cabinets, I cant wait till they are installed!
I either love white/cream or cherry/mahagony wood, Im not a fan of anything the middle.

I love an antique white...but I still like the look of a dark wood - more modern and that's where my tastes seem to be gravitating the past couple of years.
I also reallyreally want concrete countertops but I can't seem to sell DH on the idea AND his family is in the concrete business. Go figure!

I think it looks really clean and sleek...I'm not into the shiny look of granite anymore so I like the idea of the smooth stone. I really love the look of slate too - that might be an easier sell 
Who did your friend use? Did they stain the concrete or keep it grey?

I was mentioning that a few days ago, I am having my kitchen done on October 3 and I am having modern cream cabinets and beech laminate countertops, in a shaker stylee, with MASSIVE handles and all integrated appliances (dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and fridge/freezer)In the US it seems everyone has very heavy ornate wooden cabinets and dark granite countertops, here, that is seen as very old fashioned.
I can't wait to have it done...now we just need to rustle up the money somehow!!!
Magnet does a really beautiful framed white kitchen, as does Kutchenhaus...but remember this, you do get what you pay for with kitchens, so skip B&Q and MFI...

I still love this kitchen, even though I would have some more color on the walls and some glass in the cabinet doors.

Exactly what they say...counters made out of concrete.
It's funny...I'm a WYWO junkie and this week on the repeats they were doing concrete counters... Stupid on their behalf though because you can't do concrete counters in two days, so it cracked like crazy!
ETA: I love wood cabinets and plan on getting them, but I LOVE the look of the white with the wood counters

Thanks everyone. Rachel, I saw your post after I posted this - I guess it kind of is a cultural thing. I love your furture kitchen! :) But, we're just doing ours up to sell it, so I'm pretty sure we're going to end up with MFI!!!!!  I really would like white cabinets with wood worktops and brushed nickel "traditional" handles. I'm not really into the "modern look" that the UK is all about, but not really into the wooden cabinets of the states either....what country do I have to live in to find a kitchen that I like????

I like white too, or actually painted ones too.-Beth & Virdila , I love your kitchens.
I don't really like the beige veneer type that I have now.
I like some wood-I think it has to be high quality or it can really loo cheap. My parents have nice med/dark wood kitchen cabinets.
Are wood counters difficult to maintain?
