I think it looks really clean and sleek...I'm not into the shiny look of granite anymore so I like the idea of the smooth stone. I really love the look of slate too - that might be an easier sell 
Who did your friend use? Did they stain the concrete or keep it grey?

They actually used some guy off craigslist in NYC. Not sure if you would really want to go that route!!!

I painted the ones in my condo (rent the place out now) and they look so much better than when they were dark. I wish I had a before. Image Attachment(s):

Our kitchen currently has dark wood cabinets. We plan on either refacing or painting them white. It is a dark galley kitchen so I am hoping white will brighten it up. Plus I like the clean look of white cabinets.

You can talk to my husband. He is a carpenter who builds and redoes kitchens. He has done all kinds from wooden, to white, to bright blue (not kidding).
