Anyone else starting to freak about the hospital?
I am only 26 weeks, but I cant stop thinking about the hospital... I'm deathly afraid of them... I've had nothing but bad experiences with my family members... and the last two times I've had my grandpa and my dad die in them. I know its supposed to be different where you deliver and stuff... but I cant help but freak out! I'm even dreaming about this... and if DH isnt allowed to stay over I may have a freaking heart attack! Okay... I think I'm getting another dose of hormones or something lately, cause my stress level is out of control!
ETA: And I'm getting sick of being consumed with everything BABY!! I close my eyes at night and all I see is cribs, furniture, registry! AHHHHHHHH! okay, deep breath! LOLOLOL

LOL, you just have to look at it as you'll be going to the hospital for a good reason and you'll be coming home with a great little present!
Don't freak out, the way I look at it is you have to get that baby out of there somehow so why stress about it!

Re: Anyone else starting to freak about the hospital?
Im more freaked about not knowing what the birthing experience will be like.
I too am WANTING DH to stay, even he wants to desperatly stay at the hospital overnight..BUT..We have a HIGH in patient deductible on insurance and therefore cannot afford a private room to do this....So I get freaked out.
And same thing at night..all that goes through my head is baby stuff.
We will make it through

Where are you delivering?
You would probably benefit from a tour once or twice - sooner rather than later. It really is different, especially if all you saw was the ICU.
Go out for a walk! enjoy the time...

yes...I am stressing..I am 27 weeks.. I am scared and all night long I dream baby related dreams..from horrific dreams to delivering early to the sexes, to not being ready and so on. I just want to fast forward to visiting hours.

Re: Anyone else starting to freak about the hospital?
I have never been hospitalized (not even a visit to the hospital for a medical reason for myself even, knock-on-wood), so that part definitely worries me. I've never had an IV, so that worries me too, actually more than the labor & delivery at this point
My sister is a Labor & Delivery nurse, so I hope she'll be down here when I have the baby, to be there and give me the reassurance that everything is going ok, the baby's ok, etc.
I'm sure everything will be great for you

Re: Anyone else starting to freak about the hospital?
Maternity ward is a very happy place, it is not where people go when they are sick. Don't think of it as a hospital!
Also, I think you could really benefit from a hospital tour. That was the only thing I did ( no classes for me) and I found it ito be very calming and reassuring! I like that I knew exactly where I will be going to check in , where I will be delivering and where I will be staying after. It really helped to invision things exctly how they will be and what everythign looked like!

Don't worry Nicole... The delivery rooms were awesome and private(your husband can stay over there..., but there isn't a bed)
You should go on the tour. They are every Tuesday night at 7ish. It will ease your anxiety.

I agree, go on the tour. IT helps a lot. We went on a group tour with our Lamaze class but then the instructor had everyone else leave and she showed us the "twins birthing room" separately.
I took a minute or two, looked around and really soaked in the room. It helps a lot to know what my surroundings are before I get there.

Re: Anyone else starting to freak about the hospital?
Trust me- you are soooo excited about your baby that the hospital is the last thing on your mind. This is from someone who hates them as well and had a bad experience at hers to boot.
It will NOT matter to you at the time- you will be so happy to meet your little one.

Re: Anyone else starting to freak about the hospital?
I have never slept over at a hospital... I had surgery once - 12 years ago but I left the same day - that was scary, but it was a breast reduction, so it wasn't a life or death thing....
I still find all of this crazy surreal to me - the fact that this rumbly in my tumbly is actually a live baby I'm going to give birth to in a hospital - yes, at 28 wks, I should wake up a bit, but sometimes I'm still like - what the hell happened?

I am really NOT looking forward to sharing a room with someone. I hate it. I did it once. It was a nightmare. I could not sleep.

AFTER delivery of course we are talking about. If you pay for a private room, of course you can probably convince them to allow it. But if you have a roommate they wont.

It's true... I have never stayed in a hospital before this and was a little nervous. By the time I had the babies, I didnt want to leave. They take good care of you there...It was like a hotel stay... they feed you, make sure your comfortable, you have cable tv and phone.
The nurses were great.

Re: Anyone else starting to freak about the hospital?
I was really nervous about staying because I knew I would be alone. I kept thinking something could happen to me or someone could attach me (crazy I know). Well the morning I delivered DS I was so happy to be in my room and I couldnt wait to go to sleep. Those thougths never even entered my mind and between them bringing the baby to you and by the time you fall asleep you really dont sleep much at all. Everything will be fine and a tour will do you good. You will have everything planned in your head as to where to go.
