Anyone else's DH think a newborn photo shoot is a waste of money?
DH doesn't want to book a photo shoot. He'd rather use the money and buy a new lens for a camera. I don't think he understands that it isn't the quality of our lens. We are crappy photographers!

DH feels the same, but is willing to let me do some research and depending on the various packages, he might entertain the idea.

I kinda agree with your DH, I'd rather buy a new lens than go to a shoot, but I really enjoy photography and taking my own pics.

Mine does too and wouldn't agree to it for the first. After a year of seeing how crappy our own pictures are, he ok'd a "one year" photo shoot for DS. Now, with #2 on the way, we booked a combo newborn/two year (for DS)/family shoot session. This we both think is well worth it, though I'm sad I'll have pro shots of #2 and none for DS.

I'm sure my DH thinks the prices are a bit extravagant, but he also knows that when I get something in my head, there's no changing my mind.
I recently canceled my gym membership, so I'm trying to put aside the money I'd normally spend each month for the pics, so he can't complain.

My DH says we can take really cute pictures at home and we'll spend money on 1yr pics. I agree... I think newborn pics are really nice and maybe I'll change my mind when I'm pregnant again, but it's not something I feel we MUST do. At 1yr, we'll get lots of professional pics taken.

DH knows he had no choice cuz i already told him when we have a kid we are having newborn pictures...
i also dont think he knows how much a shoot costs tho...

Yep, he plans on taking the pictures himself. He really thinks it's a waste of money to have a rofessional do them.

honestly, I haven't even thought about it yet. I'd much rather my sister do it (who is an amazing photographer) only problem is that she lives out of state. I'm not sure when she'll be here. Maybe a few weeks after baby is born?
When usually do they do those newborn photos?

Under 10 days! With that being said, through the recommendation of another LIF'er, I found a really reasonable photographer.

DH and I aren't getting a professional photo shoot. I'd rather use the money towards something else, too. My dad is a great photographer (though its his hobby, not his profession).

crashing.....a friend of a friend posted pics of her sons NB shoot and I thought the pics were great. I know the guy who did them just graduated photg school but his website is REALLY impressive. Take a look maybe he will be cheaper than others. worth a shot if its something you really want.

MY DH thinks it's a waste of money but oh well I did it anyway  I love pics and ten twenty years down the line...I want to look back and see that I still have these pics as memories....
There are a lot of reasonable photographers out there (some of them are members on here) and their pics are gorgeous.

Never actually discussed it with DH. We didn't do one with DS and I always regretted it, so I just assumed we would do it this time around.
