Yes! DS2 HATES bath time. I really don't understand because DS1 loved it so much! I hate giving him baths now because of it

I don't like to give him bath either! I always thought he would like it and be relaxed, he freaks out!

DS doesn't hate it but he doesn't love it - i think he tolerates it. he does scream bloody murder when we first put him in but then he quiets down fairly quickly.
i would suggest giving him sponge baths if he hates bathtime that much, you can always try giving him regular baths again later when he is older.

Re: anyone else's newborn / infants hate
My son HATED baths with a passion!!!! Screamed bloody murder the whole time! It was awful! For him, when he was a newborn we had the AC on and it was just too cold for him. He always hated being undressed, diapers changed, or given baths. Probably around when he was 2- 2 1/2 months old, he grew out of that stage, thank god!
I feel your pain! It does get easier though and he will grow out of it!

Re: anyone else's newborn / infants hate
The first two baths he ABSOLUTELY hated....but then I realized that the water was not warm enough. I was so worried about the water being too warm, but that is what he really wanted. I started using VERY warm water and he hasn't cried in the bath since.

Shockingly Emerson LOVES baths!! I as SO surprised. She screamed for her first one and then after that she just sits there and smiles. Her favorite part is getting wrapped up in the towel. She coos and smiles non-stop. So cute!! I'm glad she enjoys it, it makes the experience far less stressful!!

Re: anyone else's newborn / infants hate
My DD hated it until she could sit up on her own in the bath ring at 6 months - it was terrible! I couldn't handle the stress so my mom bathed her the first 6 months of her life.
I thought DS loved it...he did the first few times but now he screams bloody murder anytime I give him a bath. I have my mom bath him now too. For some reason...and I've watched everything she does...he LOVES bath time when she gives him a bath. Guess I'm a bad newborn bath giver!

yes, she hates it...although I thinks she just hates being cold...once we get the warm water on her, she isn't as unhappy.

DD hated it for the first couple months. I would give her a sponge bath every couple of days.

Re: anyone else's newborn / infants hate
DS never hated bathtime, but hated everything that followed (towel, lotion, getting dressed).
I think he was just cold. Now he seems to be tolerate of the whole routine but actually loves the bath part!
Check water temp. Maybe it is too cold or too hot. If that isn't the case maybe you can try slowly transitioning?
For example, 1st day...put DC in bath no water and wipe down with soapy washcloth. Then each day slightly increase the amount of water in the tub.
That's the only advice I can think of. Good luck.

Someone once suggested putting a warm washcloth on top of her belly while I am working on her hair. Once I started doing that, bathtime became more tolerable for the both of us.

Re: anyone else's newborn / infants hate
We're giving DS his first real bath tonight. However, he HATES sponge baths. We keep him covered but he screams the whole time. I am hoping he likes real baths.

Now she is a splashing demon!!!!!!

Re: anyone else's newborn / infants hate
AJ hated it
When she was big enough to move up to a real bath and not sponge bath she still screamed when her hair was being washed.
The only way we got this to stop was to warm up the water a little more than the cool "HOT" duck really was ok with and also to put a warm (just dry not cold or wet) towel behind her for her to lean on when we bathed her. Hubby still holds up her head but she seems to be better with warmer water and a warm backside *shrug* whatever works.
But I remember DREADING her baths!

That is exactly what we do and Reilly has been a lot calmer ever since.

I do that!! It keeps her nice and warm while I'm doing her hair so she doesn't get chilled. Periodically I'll pour the warm bath water over her while she has the washcloth on her to keep it nice and warm. She loves it!!

We do that too. And we have the hand held water shower thing so we periodically run it over his body too. He loves that - Just doesn't like getting it on his face.
