Anyone ever get a non symptomatic UTI?
Strange thing just happened....
At my last visit, I simply questioned my dr. about my urine (we pee in a cup and get blood pressure checked every time so I like to ask how everything is). He said there was a tiny trace of protein. I asked if that was okay and he said it was okay but they will send it out for a culture.
Just got a call that I have a urinary tract infection.
Uhhhhh... shouldn't I kinda feel that?! I've never had one but have heard they are a biotch.
The nurse wanted to call in a prescription but I was speachless to say oh okay, let me take some drugs for something I was not expecting nor feel to have.
She is going to speak with the dr. in the office today to see if I could wait until my next visit to be checked again or if I should just take the week's worth of meds.
I'm not really a medication taker so I'm not ready to jump on a prescription so fast. There's always a chance that something went awry.
Anyone ever have a UTI without any symptoms? Is that common? If you've had symptoms... what are they? I would think burning/itching???

Yes it is common for pregnant women to have no symptoms and have a uti. You may just think the extra peeing is from pregnancy or you may truly have no symptoms. Take the meds because otherwise it can spread to you kidneys and cause preterm labor. You need to nip this in the bud. good luck

Re: Anyone ever get a non symptomatic UTI?
Okay... so I had a minute to soak this in. The dr. called back to say that it was a very low grade infection and symptoms could be as simple as frequent urination (ummm, I'm pregnant and pee a lot). So maybe inquiring about my urine was perfect timing to catch it early. UTI have a potential to turn into a kidney infection so they are calling in the Rx for me.
Wonder if I won't have to pee as much now! I thought I was going pretty normal for a pregnant person!

Re: Anyone ever get a non symptomatic UTI?
UTI's are common in pregnancy. My OB put me on Macrodantin to keep them away since i am so prone to them and i haven't had one my entire pregnancy so far. I had a non-symptomatic UTI on my honeymoon 2 years ago and ended up with the a kidney infection because it went untreated, ended my honeymoon early. They can be quite painful!
