Non-Disney Suggestions for Florida
DH and I are spending 9 days in South Florida in April, visiting my family. We'd like to take a 2-3 day side trip. I'd love to go to Epcot, but we're concerned about the crowds.
We've gone to Key West, and I would consider it again, but wanted to hear about other options. I just started looking on websites about Naples - anyone go there? Suggestions on hotels, good things to do?
Any suggestions welcome!
Thanks!

If ya like the beach..Cocoa Beach. My dad lives in Melbourne which is about 10 minutes away and the beach is gorgeous over there, tons of restaurants and bars. Really nice area. And Kennedy Space Center is over there too!!

I loved Key West! I've been to Captiva and Sanibel but those were day trips. Hmmm..Hard Rock opened up a casino I believe its in Hollywood FL..(LOL, I think) gorgeous. I cannot think of anything else. Do you belong to AAA? You can always request a tour book from them. Hope this helped a little.

Re: Non-Disney Suggestions for Florida
I go to South Florida every year to visit my parents. We are in Boynton Beach. It is different for us becuae we have kids but downtown Delray is beautiful - Atlanitc Ave. Lots of little shops and restaurants and the beach is nice. In West Palm Beach there is City Place. This is also llots of shops and restaurants . If you go on a friday or saturday there is usually live music.
Going to Disney is great. We were going to do that but not that I am on bed rest from pregnancy we cant - money will be short.
Key West is always great as well as South Beach in Miami.
LIke I said I am always there - I assume we will be there same time (spring vacatiio) in mid APril

I am on the west coast and Siesta Key is aweseome. Siesta Key is one of the top beaches in the US. Lido beach is fabulous. And if you like to fish their are a lot of great saltwater fishing in Sarasota.
Sanibel and Captiva are really nice. You can do a lot of day trips there. Fort Myers beach feels a lot like Montauk.

Re: Non-Disney Suggestions for Florida
Where is Siesta Key? We are in Boca Raton, and would like no more than a three hour drive. How are prices there?

Have you been there? Any info? Was looking at different hotels - but can't tell which is on the beach or right near?

Re: Non-Disney Suggestions for Florida
You could always visit the Everglades if you're into that type of thing. I personally LOVED it but I'm a nature buff.
The keys are also supposed to be beautiful. As another poster mentioned, Delray town is pretty (there's a fun bar there -- if you decide to go there let me know and I'll give you the name...) and also good shopping in Boca.
South Beach is also fun.

We stayed in a family member's condo right near the beach. It is a gorgeous, relaxing place to vacation.
