Anyone ever go to disney last week in aug/first wk sept?
If yes- how bad was the weather? Super hot? Super rainy? Awful time to go?
Thinking of taking advantage of the late start of school this yr in our district and planning a last minute disney trip. The prices look good and the crowd calendar looks good - just worried the weather will stink and don't want to shell out $$$$$ if that will be the case!

Eta: we tend to be night owls on vaca and last time we went to disney we did the parks at night until close - is it still really hot at night? How about rain? Tend to be more during day or night? Thank u!!!

Anyone ever go to disney last week in aug/first wk sept?
As a teenager we went twice around that time, it is extremely hot. We still had a great time, but the heat was oppressive. Last year we went the second week of September and it was still ridiculously hot. It rained in the middle of our time in Epcot for about an hour, so we ducked for cover in Japan and met some very nice Japanese ladies lol. But the benefit is that parks are less crowded at that time as southern schools are already in session. I would say it depends on your tolerance for heat.

I went to college at u of florida in Gainesville and it is super hot, very humid and rained every day at about 3pm during that time

Yes, did it exactly that time a few years ago. It was hot and humid but honestly not as bad as NY this past week. It did rain each day around 3pm but only for about half an hour, we would hole up somewhere for a bit and then get back out there. Didn't ruin our days at all.

I've been down twice in August. yes it's hot but if you're planning for it then it's doable.
tip: you can ask for a cup with ice at the counter service places and they will give it to you! wait a little bit in the heat asks you'll have nice cold water!

Yes, for the last ten years we have gone in late August. (Big Disney Fans!)
I am a teacher so my vacation time coincides with the busiest times of the year. Late August is very hot but not crowded. Be sure to depart before Labor Day weekend as the crowds build the Thursday before.

I'm a gator too!!
We went last year the last week of August, and the weather was fine- it was hot, but not too bad. It did rain, but that cooled things off and we didnt mind walking around in the rain. The year before we also went at the end of August, and there was one day we went to seaworld and the weather was just horrid. Couldn't stand outside it was so freakin hot! I think it's hit or miss... but the rates couldn't be beat for us!

We went the last week in August back in 2006 and had the same experience.

I personally think its the best time to go. We went a few years ago and the parks were empty. It was awesome. Its hot but just don't be out midday

Its just as hot here these past few years IMO. We went late August a couple of years ago and it was hot, but not humid at all. We are going end of the month until a couple days before school starts (September 9 is our start date.....very late this year). Our airfare was an awesome deal on SWA, as was our hotel. We are not actually doing Disney though.

I wouldn't let the weather stop you if that's the only thing holding you back. Especially if you guys tend to be part of the later crowd. Just be sure to plan accordingly and you'll be fine--it will definitely be hot and humid, and like a previous poster said, you're almost guaranteed an afternoon Summer storm passing through.
I grew up in South Florida and have been to Disney pretty much every month of the year at some point. haha
