Disney pros: August or sept?

Dh and I planned to take kiddies to Disney right after labor day this year. Dh asked if we could go August 20 or the week before labor day instead.

Any input on which week would be better?

We went last year 2 days after labor day, it was HOT but no lines!

I would say the week before labor day because all the Florida kids will be back in school by then. My sister's kids usually go back between the first and second week in Aug, but I don't know about the rest of the schools in the state.

We went the 2nd week of September a few years ago. It was brutally hot but it was empty and no lines!!!

we love to go right after Labor Day - the parks are EMPTY!!! I think the longest line we had was 20 minutes. In 2010 we went the week before Labor Day - it was brutally hot but while not as empty as it is after Labor Day, the crowds were pretty small.

We have friends who go every year the week before Labor Day - they said that it's definitely gotten more crowded over the last few years that week.

If you can do after labor day I would do that - otherwise I would go the week before (try say 8/25-9/1 so you are gone for the labor day weekend crowd. Many schools, esp down south, will already be back at school. Additionally, that is often free dining time. I think it will be equally hot whether you go end of August or 1st week of Sept. But if you can wait until after labor day then everyone will be back in school and it should be really quiet. You might even be able to hit MNSSHP if you wait until September I think it starts around the 10th or 11th some years.

We have been there the week before school starts in NY (right before labor day) and it was pretty empty.
I have heard the week of labor day though is emptier as the kids up north go back to school that week.

Last 2 weeks of August and early Sept are really not very crowded but HOT. The later the better since more kids are in school

there are alot of eurpeans there in august but if you try to wait till september it will be empty and you will have run of the park

We went the week before labor day and it wasn't busy at all. Surprisingly no humidity either. Hot though! But it was nice for the waterparks. If you can go in September, and don't have to take kids out of school the month it begins, then I would probably do that.

I would go in September... all the kids will be back in school by then, no lines!

I'd go in September when most kids are back to school. DH and I used to go every November and it was soooo much less crowded.

The later the better. We will be there the 2nd to last week in August, though!
