anyone file a variance before? costs?

we may have file a variance for our existing fence, anyone have an idea on what it may cost?

our previous homeowners basically screwed us so i think this is what we might have to do in order to keep our fence where it is. I just wanted to get an idea on costs so i can go back to our lawyer with this. TIA!

We were considering this in TOH and heard it could take MONTHS!

Also, they told me at the TOH that now when you file a varriance, they come into your house to make sure you have smoke and carbon dioxide detectors on every floor. We opted not to go this route because we didnt want them to see our finished basement.

we will be applying for a varriance in the town of hunt for a garage and they do not need to see in the home since the house already has a c/o

Re: anyone file a variance before? costs?

We had to get 3 variances. We hired an expeditor to do the work for us. I can't remember exactly how much they were but I believe the variance for my 2 sheds was about $700 and the variance for my new side entrance(there was a side yard encroachment) was about $1,100.
Even with the expeditor(which was a waste of money IMO) it took a few months.

ETA: I am in the Town of Brookhaven

oh no i am TO Hemp... that stinks. I really dont want to go for any other option though becuase other options woulod be: put up the pool the previous owners took down and pay for a permit. but we already spent a lot of money removing what they took down and re-did our grass, moved oru sprinkler heads, etc. and lastly, the other option would be to move our fence aligning our house at 4ft... we would lose ALOT of our backyard and we are a corner lot so we would lose our privacy too.. Wow! I got my variance in town of Islip in about 6 weeks. I hired an expeditor and it cost $1,000.
