anyone get pg with PIO injections?

i amon the infertility board..and this month we are adding pio injections...progesterone in oil.

dr and i are thinking my prog is still too low even with prog suppositories bc i keep getting waaaaay early spotting and early periods...never even make it to blood test for preg.


so just wondering if anyone had luck with this or feedback! ty xoxo

you prob already know my story but i had to do PIO (and Im STILL on it) after IVF. i did a lupron trigger to ward off OHSS so i had no corpus luteum to make my own progesterone. so thus 2CCs of PIO a night since ER. im now 11w pregnant and still on 2CC's until about 13w.

i know crinone and other supps dont raise the progesterone level in the blood, they only provide progesterone support at the site of the uterus. so PIO will no doubt raise your blood serum P4.

i wont lie. its an annoying shot cause its intramuscular. its not fun. the oil is thick and it leaves lumps and itchy spots. use a heating pad afterwards, it helps. and ice beforehand, that helps too.

are you seeing dr. B? i only ask cause he does a lot of custom protocols that you wont see anywhere else. he def thinks outside the box!! (or as he likes to say, he doesnt so much think OUTSIDE the box, as much as he thinks within a much larger box )

I did PIO for the first 7 week after IVF. And I'm 21 weeks pregnant now.

yes i am seeing dr b and i requested pio bc i was still spotting and getting afs reallllly early .....this will be my 6th iui cycle ina row and i never make it to beta.

now i am worried lol

i remember taking ONE shot of an oil in my butt when i did ivfand dh almost fainted. now i am thinking pio isnt one time?? its everyday????

wonder if this is true..what oil shot i took for my ivf earlier this year.( could it have been delestrogen>)

dh is gonna die if he has to shoot me every day...and my arse might too!!! omg


how many mg or mls did you all take a day????

Yes...I had to do PIO for 12 weeks when I was pg with my DS.

PIO is used to support the ipregnancy (or anticipated pregnancy) until your body produces enough progesterone on its own ...(hopefully I am explaining that correctly)

I was on PIO in the weeks leading up to both my IVF's ( my DD and current pregnancy) and until 10 weeks after pregnancy was confirmed both times

i know my eggs suck and even all the progesterone in the world wont make a poopy egg stick...but wondering if i HAVE indeed produced a decent one..but my progesterone was too low.

omg ...and btw anyone had to give one to themselves...dh might be out of town on a trip coming up

i'll be honest, i asked dr. B about this a few cycles back, and he said the chances are much better that sperm and egg never met, then that they met, formed and embie, and didn't implant. he said there was no question more BFNs are a result of no fertilization than they are lack of implantation. when fertilization occurs but implantation fails (due to low progesterone or any other reason) the results tend to be chemical pregnancies, where there is evidence that implantation was attempted but failed.

so obv im not a doctor but IMO progesterone will help sustain a pregnancy once fertilization has occurred and implantation has begun, and it will assist with proper implantation.. but it wont help anything if fertilization itself didn't occur due to poor egg quality or poor sperm or just bad luck.

ive never given myself a PIO shot so Im no help there.
