Anyone get pregnant again soon after having a baby??
Please dont quote:
Without getting into details...we had a little mishap last night I told DH I was going to take the morning after pill but he asked me not to. DD is only 3 months old and i'm freaking out at the thought of getting pregnant. Its not that I don't want another baby its just that we are having a difficult time financially right now. He said he wouldn't mind having another baby so soon and that it took 4 years for me to get pregnant so its prob not likely.
Would it be wrong for me to take the pill and not tell him?

ETA: I'm not saying that you shouldn't take the pill, I'm just saying that I think you should tell him before you take.
Taking it without telling him, to me, is deceitful (I am not calling you deceitful!) and I couldn't do that. I would rather fight the fight.

Re: Anyone get pregnant again soon after having a baby??
Its wrong to and not tell him, plus like you said it took 4 years last time so most likely it wont happen.
MY DH wants another one already and DS is only 4 months but we are also having a very hard time financially they just cut back my DH's days/hours.
Good luck

Not being in the situation, its easy for me to say that yes, it would be wrong to take it and not tell him. But, you really have to do what you think is best and are comfortable with reagrdless of what anyone else says. Having a 1 year old and a newborn can't be easy so if that's something you aren't comfortable with, you need to think about it. Talk to him again and talk about your fears, etc. and if you want to take it, tell him that too, you both have equal say.

I agree with this. You need to talk to him further and explain why you are not comfortable with this. It is YOUR body, so he should also be mindful of your feelings.

Re: Anyone get pregnant again soon after having a baby??
I would tell him you are going to take the pill. That being said, it took me just under 3 years to get pregnant (and I did - with twins). When they turned 9 months old, I got pregnant - w/out trying - and here I am now with 23 m/o twins and a 5 m/o. So it can happen.

This is what I'm afraid of. When I told him I was going to take it I didn't think it would be opposed to it. We spoke about it alot today but he hasn't changed his mind. It has to be taken within 72 hours for it to be effective.

having them close together is nice! rough in the beginning but might as well when you already still in "baby mode" I freaked out too! (mine were 17 mo apart) being a SAHM it is tough financially but some how we are managing and I know you will too!
Good luck!

Re: Anyone get pregnant again soon after having a baby??
I found out I was pregnant again at my 6 week checkup From what I understand is ther is actually more of a chance to get preggo right after having a baby because you are "opened" for lack of a beter word (this is how my Dr explained it) Now that my kids are 3 & 4, I am SO happy that i had them so close together, they are best friends and i find it MUCH easier than having just one child, because they keep eachother occupied so less entertainment needed by me!
I personally would never take the pill and especially w/o telling my DH, but that's me, and shouldnt have any effect on what you think is the right thing for you or what you can handle. Good Luck!!

Re: Anyone get pregnant again soon after having a baby??
I feel guilty even thinking about taking the pill and not telling him. I have a 12 y/o and he has a 11y/o from previous relationships ...DD is our first together. I just want him to say "yes take the pill and we'll try next year" but hes stuck on having another baby before hes 40 (which is next year). I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed.

I would not take it without telling him. I do understand feeling the wa you do. Where are you in your cycle? Do you know? This is going to sound b!tchy and isn't meant to but you should probably make sure you don't have any more "mishaps."

Re: Anyone get pregnant again soon after having a baby??
To answer your question, If you are going to take the pill, then you should tell your DH. You are going to bleed a lot, and possibly be in some amount of pain, so he should know whats going on.
Also, considering that it did take you 4 years to conceive, then if you were to get pregnant again now, personally, if it were me, I'd view it as a blessing.
Good luck whatever you decide!

Pardon if this is TMI...I had PP bleeding for 5 weeks and just stopped nursing last week. I haven't had a period yet.

OK-then its tougher to tell. Its sort of up in the air if women ovulate during BF...If you did-it would probably be sometime around 4 weeks PP...so I would *think* you would be OK

Same here.
My girls are 14 months apart (got pregnant when DD#1 was 5 months old) and I love the age gap. So much so that we plan on having 2 more babies close together again in a few years

IMO you would be violating his trust and I would even go as far as say breaking a marriage vowel. Stay true to your husband. Doing that behind his back is so wrong. How would you feel the other way around?

Re: Anyone get pregnant again soon after having a baby??
DS is 10 months old and I am 5 months pregnant we are not doing all that well financially either but my husband and I are thrilled that we are expecting...........
if I were you and you tried for so long to have baby #1 and you were to be blessed with another pregnancy and you want another baby anyways go for it..................
I am not nervous in the least........... I have so many white and light yellow things from ds the dd can use them.... now I know better than to get so many things that they grow so quickly....
you will be ok

This is kind of harsh for you to say, to bring up my marriage vows??? Would it be better for me to take the pill and then tell him? B/c the bottom line is that he doesn't want to prevent a pregnancy and I do. I had a momement of anxiety, was nervous and contemplated the idea but feel better thanks to the support of all the ladies who responded on this post and FMed me with their personal stories.
I can see where this post is headed so I'm going respectfully say thank you for everyones oppinons and you'll know the outcome if you see me on the pregnancy board!
