Anyone go to any fun or creative parties lately?
My mom is having a milestone birthday coming up and I am trying to figure out something fun for her. We were going to take a trip but due to some issues, we are going to have to put it off. I want to do something fun and special. We will likely have it at my house. I am open to any ideas! My mom is fun and youthful and loves a good party. Thanks!

Anyone go to any fun or creative parties lately?
I am having a wine and cheese tasting party this weekend. My friend had a divorce party at an axe throwing place which was lots of fun. Anf for my moms 80th we had a 70s disco party that i set up at our local VFW since she was a big Studio 54 attendee back in her youth.

If she's a fan of gambling, I've seen a lot of those casino parties where they come to your house and set up craps, roulette, black jack etc with dealers.
Food truck parties are also pretty popular now too with different kinds of food trucks and even bar trucks for cocktails

How are you doing the wine and cheese tasting? That was something I was thinking of. She would like that. I was thinking of hiring a guy with a guitar like they have at the wineries and do a tasting but I wasn't sure how to organize this.

I asked each couple who is coming to bring a bottle of wine and a cheese or meat they know or believe pairs well with it. Usually good wine shops will know, if not google helps. We will be providing assorted appetizers and finger foods, dessert and water of course

Years ago I had an appetizer party. Just to get friends and family together and everyone brought an appetizer with the recipe. I provided the drinks.

Saw these two on fb a few times.
Not sure how many people you are having b/c its pricy, but there is an at home hibachi chef. Does the whole thing in your backyard. Also, there is a guy from the Sopranos that comes to your house and cooks a full Italian meal.

I went to a bridal shower once and they had a standup comedian. She was hilarious. Her act was geared to weddings and getting married given the occasion but I’d bet she does birthdays, too. This was a few years ago but let me see if I can find her info.

OMG that is such a great idea for a shower! I usually dread showers, but that would be such great entertainment for a shower.

For my daughter-in-laws bridal shower, I did a wine and cheese tasting, and also had someone teach one of the painting parties. We painted a design on mason jars. It was a smaller party, and everyone had a lot of fun.for the wine and cheese tasting, my other daughter-in-law took care of it. She wrote up descriptions for each of the wines, (funny at times) and cheeses, and presented them during breaks in the painting.

Re: Anyone go to any fun or creative parties lately?
Years ago my BiL had a game show set up at his house. It was like jeopardy but with normal questions, a lot pertaining to the bday girl and her life etc. people had a blast!
I’ve recently seen advertising for these types of set ups for parties on Facebook.

I did a party like this last year for my husband’s birthday. What I did was pre-select a country for each couple who were attending. They had to bring two bottles of wine for their selected country. I provided food that match the country. For example one of the countries were Germany. I put put out soft pretzels and some kind of meat they always serve. I only served one country at a time to keep it organized. Also, my friend’s son plays guitar like they do the wineries. He did it for a retirement party and was perfect! If you don’t live too far from Miller Place, feel free to PM me.
