Re: Anyone go to Curves?
I went to Curves about a year ago.
They have different machines. You work on each of them for a few minutes. You get through all of them in 30 minutes.
I quit because I didn't like going alone.
I would like to join again if I can find someone to join with

Re: Anyone go to Curves?
i go
i like it. i feel that it is a good workout. I am not one to live at the gym. i need something quick and efficient.
in my first month i lost 12 inches total.
i hate going by myself too. i originally joined the one in west babylon with my MIL but she doesn't go because of an injury.

Re: Anyone go to Curves?
I swear it totally worked for me. I got really toned...just 3 days a week , for 30 minutes. I was also on WW.
Towards the end of the membership, I really wasn't losing anymore and had to start running on off days.

Re: Anyone go to Curves?
I love it - i rejoined last month, i used to go 3 years ago.
I go on my lunch hour - in one month i have lost 5 and 3/4 pounds and 6 inches. So for me - it works.

Re: Anyone go to Curves?
Just curious-- how much is the membership? Is it a year-long membership, or is it like a 6 week program or something that you pay for? Wondering how it compares to a full service gym.

I used to be a member of the Bayside Curves. It was $75 to join. $150 was listed but there was a half off promotion which always seemed to be the case. If you signed up for a year, the monthly fees were $39.99 + tax ($43ish). If you decided to end your contract prior to one year, you were charged $10 per month of membership up to $60.
If you sign up for a month to month membership, the monthly fee was $49.99 but you can stop at anytime without paying the termination penalty.
This is no where near a full service gym. They have a circut with 12-15 machines that you circle for 30 minutes. The circut has machines that works all parts of your body with resting stations (march/jog in place, jumping jacks, etc) in between.
The one in bayside has a balance ball and some mats for stretching & limited floor excerses. The one in Bayside also has limited hours - several in the morning then several in the late afternoon evening. They don't have classes or free weights.

Re: Anyone go to Curves?
thanks-- it's about half of what I pay at NYSC-- so it's cheaper for sure. Are there class times, or do you go whenever you want and work in within the cycle for your 30 mins?
I have a little gym in my building-- so I can do cardio and stuff on my own. I go to the gym for weights, and to do an occasional spin class-- plus cardio when I am there.
Just good to know there is a cheaper option out there for what I needed. I basically go to the gym specifically for the weight training portion of my work out.

Re: Anyone go to Curves?
There is no set time for anything. When you get there you jump into the circut and everyone moves around at the same time so you do your 30 minutes and you are done.
It's actually resistance training not weight training. The harder you work the machine the more it will push back. There are no weights to adjust.
Here's their site Curves.com for more info and to see the machines/circut looks.
