Anyone go to SUNY Purchase or live in the area?
Have a possible future employment opportunity (not definite) at that campus and wondered what the area was like...TIA!

My sister did. I think it's a mixture of a little bit of everything. Kinda like LI from what she's described. Also a lot of stuff was a short drive away, like to White Plains or CT.

Purchase is very small, mostly residential. White Plains is a 5 minute drive and its great. It's pretty urban with alot to do. There's two malls, alot of shopping, resturants, bars. Its a pretty good area. The other surrounding towns are nice too!

My DH works in the area. Rye is very close- there is a pizza place, Starbucks, Cosi, a couple other small restaurants in that area and that's where he usually eats. There are a couple decent restaurants on Anderson Hill Rd (if I remember correctly.)

I went to college at Mville which is also in Purchase. There is a place called Cobble Stone which I ate lunch at a few times but most of the time my friends and I would drive abt 5 min to either Rye or White Plains.

I envy you, wanted to go to purchase for art but didn't have the balls to move away from LI. From what I recall when visiting it was pretty cool (as a young adult) not sure about it now.
It is the main reason i am taking state exams again so i can move out this area possibly in a few years and go to another SUNY area.

Re: Anyone go to SUNY Purchase or live in the area?
I grew up in Purchase, still work there and live in White Plains. The area is so nice. Purchase itself is very small, there's really no "town" to speak of. There are two , a post office, and a deli, that's pretty much it. But you are within 5 minutes of everything else.
