Anyone have a big baby at birth but then...

not really gain weight rapidly?

My DS was born at 9lbs 10oz and now at almost 4 months he is only 13lbs 5 oz which is the 25th percentile. He has three little friends who are the same age and waaaaay bigger than him.

Just curious if anyone else's DC was born on the larger size and then did not gain weight all that fast? Is there a reason to be concerned at all?

Your dr will tell you when you need to be concerned. Try not to worry.

DD was born 8lbs 11oz-in the 75th or 90th percentile, I can't remember.

In any case since around 6 months she has routinely been in the 25th percentile and the doctor is not worried. She is just very active and burns all of her food-she has her father's metabolism, not mine.

DS was born at 11 pounds 8 ounces.

Many of his friends passed him by a year old.

Now at 18 months he is still tall, but skinny! But my entire family had big babies that ended up being tall, thin toddlers.

DD was 9lbs 4 ozs at birth but by 6 months she was 17 lbs and by 12 months she was only 20lbs. She is in the 30%. She is growing and very active so our ped isn't concerned. I would say if your DC is gaining some and the ped isn't worried than I wouldn't worry. Kids grow at different speeds.

DD was 9lbs 1oz at birth - in the 95th %tile.
At 2 months she was 12lbs 2oz - 75%
At 6 months she was 15.5lbs - 30%
At 8 months she was 16lbs 14oz - 13%
At 9 months she was 17lbs 8oz.

Her rate has definately slowed down.

It makes buying clothes hard because she used to be right on target with the sizes (0-3mo/3-6mo) but now she's not.
