anyone have a biological child and still adopt?

I am pg with my first it took 18 months of blood, sweat and tears. When we didnt know if we could have children I started looking into adoption. Dh is one and done and is trying to convince me. I dont know if I want to have a 2nd biological baby but I seriously am considering adopting a tolder. Am I crazy?

Not now but maybe in a year or 2. Of course I would have to convince dh, his major concern is $.

Re: anyone have a biological child and still adopt?

I ALWAYS wanted to adopt. I had a biological child with help, and wanted to look into adoption because my brother is adopted, and I just think it is a wonderful gift for parents AND child.

However, my DH just could not get on board with it, which saddens me.but it is what it is.

I hope you are able to move forward with adoption, it is such a wonderful thing. I cannot IMAGINE my life without my brother!

We have two children. DD is our biological child and was conceived through in vitro. Our son was adopted at birth this past may.

You are not crazy. Adopting our son was one of the best decisions that we have ever made. We are so in love with him.

Re: anyone have a biological child and still adopt?

We have two girls both conceived with IF treatments. DH has always been open to adoption. My dad was adopted at 16 months old and I've always been interested in adotping a child. We revisit the topic every once in a while when we talk about the possibility of a third child. If we do go for a third I would strongly consider adotping a baby or toddler.

DHs cousin has two biological kids. After going through cancer treatments she was unable to have more so they adopted a 3rd.

Have you ever thought about adopting embryos? I hear many do this & then wont have to do the hard part with IVF again.
I have twins through IVF so I know how hard.

Re: anyone have a biological child and still adopt?

I have no idea if I will conceive easily or have IF issues. I have no idea what pregnancy will be like (I'm honestly terrified) but we do plan to to adopt. I have always wanted to. It's important to DH to have a bio child if we can, so we are going to start there. Ideally we will have a mix of a-kids and b-kids

Re: anyone have a biological child and still adopt?

At some point I will have my own biological child and I want to adopt 100%. I'm not sure if it's because I'm adopted or what. I don't define myself by it, but I feel like it has been such an important part of my life.
I might get reemed for this, but growing up, and even now, I never had the need to give birth to my own child. If it happened/happens great! If not that's cool too because either way I know I'll have children. It's a 100% personal decision but DH obv. isn't on board for that so I will be having 1 of my own.

The only thing holding me/us back is the $ aspect. However, whenever I do adopt it will be internationally.
