Anyone have a car mirror that doesn't suck?
We have the Baby In Sight Mirror for the car so I can see DS and it sucks sucks sucks.
It never stays in place and it has cracked in two places.
Does anyone have one that they like and that actually stays in place?
TIA

We had that one with both kids and loved it until the fire department told me to take them out when I was getting the car seats installed since they are VERy unsafe and could really hurt a baby in an accident.

Re: Anyone have a car mirror that doesn't suck?
DH won't allow it to be put in the car. After he got certified in car seat installation....anything on the car seat (ex -toys, hanging things, mirrors) were an absolute no no. They can be VERY hazardous and are considered "projectiles"

Re: Anyone have a car mirror that doesn't suck?
OK I may be wrong - but I think the dangerous ones are the mirrors we put in the FRONT of the car. We have a mirror strapped to the headrest in the back set - DD can see herself (when she gets a little older) and I can see her in it from my rear-view mirror.
Is this the kind you mean Lauren?
I have one a friend passed down to me, and it is fine - I'll let you know the brand.

Re: Anyone have a car mirror that doesn't suck?
A mirror strapped in by the tether is not unsafe at all. A tether is what holds carseats in, so surely it will hold a mirror in place in the event of an accident.
I have the fisher price rainforest one. It's great. It's large, has animals hanging and plays music.
If you don't have a tether, then I would skip the mirror for safety reasons.

Re: Anyone have a car mirror that doesn't suck?
We just hooked our mirror up about an hour ago so I can't recommend it just yet - but a friend of mine had it and was raving about it. IT's a baby Einstein one that comes with a remote control. If it's good over the next few days I'll let you know.

Re: Anyone have a car mirror that doesn't suck?
We have the Fisher Rainforest mirror that plays music. It's not the smaller round one with the monkey on it, it's the rectangular one with the animals hanging from it and the music on a timer. Thomas loves it. The only problem is that I think the batteries it came with are dying already because the timer doesn't work. You turn it on, set to play for 20, 40 or 60 minutes, and it turns off after a minute... I'll have to change batteries and see how it works.

We have the smaller round one and it sucks for me, but DH can use it

Re: Anyone have a car mirror that doesn't suck?
LOL...I just took mine out (she's 4!). Either I tossed it or threw it in the back seat. I'll see where it is...if it's in the backseat, it's yours.
You pin it on to the headrest. It doesn't move.
I read Theresa's post on the car seat installation & thought of all of the loose objects in my car so I've been cleaning it ou.

I have the summer infant car monitor that I LOVE. I call it the "ella channel". It has night vision, and a clear picture of what she's up to at all times.
LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

Re: Anyone have a car mirror that doesn't suck?
thanks everyone. I'll look into these.
Believe me, it will be secured very tightly so it cannot become a projectile.
I had to drive 4 hours yesterday without being able to see him and it was awful.
It's important to me to be able to see him and know that he is okay when he makes some of those questionable sounds...or no sound at all, which can be unnerving too!!

Re: Anyone have a car mirror that doesn't suck?
I want to get one more so b/c DS enjoys looking at himself. he's so self-centered.
I read the thread on them being dangerous, but I have to say I don't care.
I was in an accident as a teenager (rear-ended at a red light)...the rear view mirror flew off and landed in the back seat, where my sister was supposed to be sitting. I decided to let her sit up front with me since it was Halloween and special... I'm less worried about a soft object falling on my kids than a hard, glass mirror.

I have this one and the batteries were dead since I first bought it. I need to replace them but DD loves this mirror, she loves to look at herself and the animals
And it is safe since it is attached to the tether
