Anyone have a co-ed shower at home or elsewhere?

If I have the shower at my home, I was contemplating having the guys as well...why not?

Just curious how the whole thing worked out...opening gifts, etc?

Thanks!

Re: Anyone have a co-ed shower at home or elsewhere?

I planned a shower for my friend a few months ago. I mentioned it to some men that they are invited and they had no intention of coming at all. They said they wouldnt like it. I was really annoyed about it but I decided to just leave them out. I wasn't even gonna have games or anything girly I was really pis sed about it. So yes I like the idea but GL with it. Men dont hide their feelings lol. Chat Icon

I don't know about your male friends but mine would rather sit through a root canal than a baby shower.

The topic has come up a few times in my circle over the years and each time the men rolled their eyes at the idea

I guess I just figured that the dudes could be outside, fire pit, beers, food, and the gals would be hanging around as well...more like a party...at gift time, i would not expect any guy to oooh and ahhh over my excersaucer...lol...then after gifts, it's continued party time....

anyone have anything like that?

My shower is in two weeks at my parents house.

Men are coming - it is going to be more like a big BBQ than a formal party.

My bridal shower was planned this way as well. The men convened elsewhere while the "girly" stuff took place.

I just recently went to a co-ed bridal shower. It was help at someone's home. The ladies where upstairs and the guys where downstairs in the basement watching baseball and drinking beer

We are having a coed sprinkle at our house after the baby is born. This will be our 2nd child. We are going to serve wraps, salads, and an array of desserts and just let whoever wants to come in and see the baby feel free to do so. We will have open hours between 1- 5 pm. Our friends and family can just stop in at their leisure, stay for a bit, see the baby and then be on their way.
We will do this about 3 weeks after DD arrives.

I had a co-ed shower at home before DS's birth. The women hung out in the living room chatting and playing games. The men went to the basement with DH to play a few rounds of poker and watch sports. Everyone came together for food and opening presents. Everyone had a good time!

I went to a coed shower once. The only thing that made it a shower was the gifts, which were opened in front of everyone. Otherwise, it was basically just a house party with good food and drink and there was no separation of men and women - no shower games, no overtly girly stuff going on, etc. I think everyone enjoyed themselves - DH and I certainly did!

Re: Anyone have a co-ed shower at home or elsewhere?

mine was like this just on Saturday.

there was food, beer, tons of kids and running around. bbq.

the only thing that made it a "shower" was the gift opening. no games. none of that.

I think some of the guys even hung around to watch me when I opened them...no doubt for my usual colour commentary Chat Icon

but other than that, it was a typical large gtg for both men and women. no roll eyes. no naps. no running out with their hair on fire.

I went to a co-ed baby shower and it was totally different than any other I have been too. First of all, it was on a Sat night and in the form of a cocktail party. There was a bar and buffet. Everyone of course brought gifts, but she only opened a few. It was ok I guess, I didn't feel as if there was much attention on the mommy-to-be and the men were just hanging out drinking...Honestly, I prefer the traditional all women showers but that's just me.

My bestfriend had a co-ed shower, it was at a catering hall, and they had a DJ and everything, it was alot of fun. There were no games, just food, opening of presents, drinks and dancing!

I'm having my shower in the party room of a local resturant and I suggested that my DH hang out with the guys at the bar downstairs. He didn't seem too keen on the idea, but he did mention having a "baby benefit poker game" with the guys. Something about the winner takes half the pot and the baby gets the other half or something. I don't know if he'll actually do it, but I think it's cute he even thought of it. Chat Icon
