Did you have your shower at a restaurant or someone's home?

If you had it at someone's home, whose house was it?

My baby shower for my first pregnancy was in my Mom's backyard. It was a great shower & so much fun. My mom & my friends put up some backyard tents & my dad cooked (he's an excellent cook) & we had a BBQ going too. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

Mine will be in a restaurant, Caio Baby. I love home showers but mine is in the winter and there are too many people to host inside.

Re: Did you have your shower at a restaurant or someone's home?

We were planning on our shower being at the same restaurant we had our bridal shower at. We LOVE it there and the owners are family friends. I live in MI so i'm no help on location..sorry. If we would have one at a house it would more then likely be my mom's since her house is set up better for a larger gathering and my dad's family, nor my dad or step mom would feel uncomfortable going there, but my mom and her family would be uncomfortable at my dad's house

I had mine at my parent's boat club - it was big enough to fit everyone and we had it catered. It was in March so it was still too cool to have it outside.

I think its all a preference and on what you like, my mother is going to have it at her house, which is what i wanted, very laid back. and she is making the food, along with my MIL, and my aunts.

My shower will be at Vittorio's Restaurant in Amityville. So excited because the food is some of zagats top rated and I LOVE their sauce! Nothing more exciting than good food and ALOT of baby gifts! I wanted a relaxed atmosphere that had a little bit of ambiance and glitz....very me LOL

Re: Did you have your shower at a restaurant or someone's home?

funny this topic is here my mom and i were just talking about this.

i had said i wanted small shower at my moms house (my bridal shower will almost be a year ago from this baby shower and it was huge about 75 people) and althought i loved mybridal shower it was a bit overwhelming with all the people and not really being able to see everyone. so i asked for small.. after talking about it with my mom we realized that we really cant cut it down to much more so having it at my parents would be impractical. so were pretty sure we are going to use the fire house that my FIL is very involved at.

Re: Did you have your shower at a restaurant or someone's home?

i'm hoping/assuming it will be at my parent's house. i don't want them to spend too much or go out of their way, so that just seems easier. however, if they decide to have it at a restaurant, i kind of want it at the irish coffee pub because that's where we had our wedding and they were AMAZING there. i think it'd be a nice, sort of full circle kinda thing. at the very least we'll take the baby there for our one year anniversary dinner. i'm hoping for my parent's though.

My first shower was at my mom's house. When I had my second baby, it was at Sal's Place in Massapequa.

Is it bad that I don't want a baby shower. I really feel by the time you finish paying for everyone's meal you would have bought what the baby needed. Everyone is trying to convince me in having one, but that is making me not one even more.

In terms of monetary exchange, you are probably correct in the sense that after you are done with the food, invitations, favors, etc., you will probably come out equal. However, your loved ones may want to celebrate the baby with you.
