Re: Anyone have a colicky baby? I need help...very long. ADDED ANOTHER QUESTION.

Ds has reflux, so I put rice in his bottles, which thickens it a bit.
The first time I gave it to him, he definitly noticed a difference, but since I only put about an ounce of the tea in w his bottles, I just add a "pinch" more of the rice & He seemed fine with it.
Im not saying to add rice, but maybe if you spread the ounce of tea out over the course of two or three bottles, he may not notice the difference in consistency & he would still get the benefits of it. I don't know, but worth a shot.
I completely understand you get to a point where you will try ANYTHING
I should add...I put the tea in with his formula. Not sure if I made that clear in my post sorry
Oh wait...you put the tea in with his formula???? I didn't do that. I will def try that. I gave him just the tea in a bottle. How much were you giving him?

Oh yes, I forgot about the tea! We gave this to DS now and then, really more for poop issues than colick, but it did seem to help him. Still do sometimes since his poop is not regular.
He wouldn't drink it straight either. Mix an ounce in his formula. If he takes that, try two ounces. Or put an ounce in two bottles. That's all his doctor told us to give him anyway.
Also, I would ask your boyfriend's sister to help if you really get desperate. Is she home during the day? Maybe she can watch DC for a couple hours so you can sleep! Seriously, I would help someone out with their baby if I could.
I didn't know I could mix the tea and formula...i'm doing that tonight!!!!
She is home during the day...for some reason i feel bad if I ask for help...like they will think i'm not capable of taking care of him. I know I shouldn't feel that way and she would LOVE to have him. I know this is something I need to get over.

Re: Anyone have a colicky baby? I need help...very long. ADDED ANOTHER QUESTION.
Sorry you are going through this. My DD was a cranky baby at that age. Not sure if she was colicky but it definitely took a toll on me.
My ped. doesnt diagnose colic. A lot of ped. just say to wait it out. My ped. usually will try anything under the sun, including formula changes and he did say that the baby has to be on the same formula for a few days. He also tried meds on her for acid reflux.
Does your DS spit up alot? That is a sign of acid reflux. AR is no joke with a baby. It hurts me, I cant imagine what it is like for them.

Definitely ask! If you don't feel comfortable asking her to help out in the middle of the night, ask her to watch DC a little during the day so you can sleep. She would probably love to be of help to you.

Re: Anyone have a colicky baby? I need help...very long. ADDED ANOTHER QUESTION.
We thought dd had Colic also but it turns out she has a milk protein allergy. We tried nutramigen, alimentum. She screamed with any Enfamil product and liked the Similac better but still was "colic". We started noticing mucus with a reddish tinge in her stool and then little tiny dots of blood. The Dr. confirmed the blood in her stool and put her on Elecare (prescription formula) She was a new baby. Started sleeping within 1 day! Maybe you could get your Dr. to prescribe a hypoallergenic formula to see if it helps. All formulas on the market/over the counter contain milk protein. At least speak with him to explore the possibility. Some babies don’t have the blood in there stool as a symptom.
Also... The Happiest Baby on The Block saved my life!!! We stopped swaddling her because she would fight it and I thought that meant she didn't like it. I went to BBB (BRU does NOT carry it) and it worked wonders. We swaddled, shh'ed, rocked, used the pacifier and got a radio for her room and bought an ocean sounds cd at target.
You’re not alone! I would cry & cry at night it was SO BAD! It will get better. Each day you are one day closer. I know it's hard but try to enjoy the few moments you get. They are never that small again
Please FM me if you need anything or have ANY questions!!!! It took about a month until dd liked the swing so keep trying. She even slept with us for about 3 weeks.
ETA: DD also has reflux. She would scream during feedings, and when she would spit up would cry in pain sometimes. Then it got worse and she started arching her back and crying. We started on Axid then switched to Zantac and added rice to her bottles. Reflux stopped completely but the spit up continued pretty bad until about 6 months.
