Anyone have a home built by Campo Bros.?
Just curious how your experience was with them, if you are happy with the house etc?

Re: Anyone have a home built by Campo Bros.?
My BIL did in Miller Place in 2010.
Overall, they are very happy. It is too cookie cutter for my tastes, but it's a nice looking, clean cut house. I believe they chose the Jamesport model. But it did take longer than initially anticipated, which caused some issues when they sold their previous home. And some of the finishes, tile work and fixtures were still being done after they closed which was a pain for them. Also, the upgrades cost A LOT even thought they negotiated. The moulding is separating now at the seams since the house is settling, and the porch has already been replaced. They also had a ton of landscaping and irrigation issues, but I don't know if that was from Campo directly or the irrigation company.
I know they ended up going over their budget by a lot once they upgraded (my BIL said they showed them a much more upgraded model to begin with, which was Campo's way of getting them to upgrade to make their's look the same), but it's their forever home. Once the houses were completed, it took Campo a long time to come back and complete little things, like driveway aprons, etc. That was annoying for the neighborhood (they left the dumpsters for a long time, piles of gravel in the road, etc).
If you ask my BIL, he wouldn't do it over again LOL but my SIL would - but I know she has said that to build a house you need a lot of luxury in terms of time and budget since it never goes quite according to plan.

I agree with this. Friends of mine just had a house built by them. It started at 325K. They ended up spending over 500K. Huge price jump. And they still have to cover all the landscaping. I've been in the house and while I think it is ok, it's not my style. They are on a cul-de-sac that was all built at the same time and to me the houses are too cookie cutter. I also don't think they got a good value based on location and price.

I think my BIL started out a bit under $400k and ended up over $500k.
