Anyone have a McDonald's bday party? Reviews?
DS loves McD's...Specifically, the one in Stony Brook with the singing moon man. His bday is in June, and I'll have a NB, so I am thinking of booking a McD's party for his 3rd bday.
Any reviews? Do you buy the parents food too? Anyone have a party at the McD's in Stony Brook?
I know some parents are adamently against McD's--would anyone feel strongly enough not to send DC to a party there?

My sister did one last year for her 5yo twins -- it was a big hit and I think fairly inexpensive -- something like $200 for 15-20 kids.
She didn't get the adults meals -- I think it worked out fine.

I am big anti-mcdonalds... but i would make an exception for a bday party! sounds like a great idea especially since you will have a nb.

Re: Anyone have a McDonald's bday party? Reviews?
We just had DD's bday party at McDonalds in Hicksville, in December. It was great. I don't know what the stonybrook one looks like, but the hicksville one actually had private rooms for each party. Everyone shared the playplace. We ordered platters of food for the adults, came with 5 burgers,5 fries and 5 nuggets ($14 a platter). We also got unlimited soda for $10 for all adults. You really get a lot for your money. Every kid gets a kids meal, toy, favor bags. They also get a balloon and they do face painting. The cake is included too. It was $149.95 for 10 kids, birthday kid free, and $9.95 each additional kid. We had a great time!!!

Re: Anyone have a McDonald's bday party? Reviews?
My son went to a b-day party @ the Stony Brook Location ~ it was a lot of fun for the kids ~ I would recommend it ~ They had a lot of activities too ~ just not sitting around and eating. (we don't go to McDonald's all the time but I think it is good once in awhile)
(my friend did not feed the adults ~ we did our own thing but had drinks for us)
I think I might have my son's 4th birthday there ~ good idea and a good price to do something different!
(thanks for the reminder)

I think it is a great idea. IMO birthday parties are special occasions and even parents who are against their kids eating McD's can make a one time exception for a friends bday party.

Re: Anyone have a McDonald's bday party? Reviews?
DH and I eat McDonald's but we don't let DS have it but that being said, if he was invited to birthday party there I wouldn't think twice about letting him go. Once in awhile won't kill him at all and from the reviews on here, it sounds like it's such a great deal and so much fun! Sounds like it will be so much fun!

Re: Anyone have a McDonald's bday party? Reviews?
I'm not a McDonalds fan, and we don't get the food much. But we actually had my son's 4th bday party at the Hicksville location. He had a blast!!! We went there because he has issues with bday parties--does not like the noise and crowds generally and does not love being the center of attention. But he did want a party with kids from school even so. Of all the bday parties we attended last year, he had fun at McDonalds--I think the indoor playground is kind of familiar to him, and he's used to noise in that kind of situation, so he did very well. The other kids seemed to have a lot of fun too.
It's sooo easy--I did his parties myself the past few years, and this was a breeze. I actually had time to talk to guests! We did get food for the adults, as well as coffee and soda. My only suggestion is picking an early or a later time for the event--if the playarea is shared as the Hicksville one is, it gets packed around lunchtime. Also, the cake was kind of skimpy--there was none for the adults, so I would order a second cake next time. But it was fine for the kids, they get ice cream too.

You wanted honest opinions, so personally I would rsvp no. Please no flames. You have to do what works for your family/friends though. I understand that. We just don't eat fast food ever. DD has never had. She also has allergies so that factors in also. If it was a close friend I would invite you for a playdate one day close to the party & make a cake to sing happy bday & give a gift.

not flaming, but you said your DD has allergies, so what do you do when you are invited to a birthday party that doesn't cater to her needs? do you reject all parties.
i know a lot of children with allergies, and they just bring their own food.

Not really flaming but curious-
Allergies are an issue IMO very different from just wanting to shelter your kids from unhealthy foods. How old is your dd? What happens when she is more aware of invitations/foods/life in general and it's not so easy to just rsvp no? My personal concern would be that my kid might go crazy eating unhealthfully bc they weren't taught moderation/coping with these tasty little devils all around us.

Re: Anyone have a McDonald's bday party? Reviews?
Have never been to a party there & while it does sound like a lot of fun, I might possibly reject the invitation as we are trying to hold off introducing fast food for as long as possible. I can't really outright say no, it would depend on my feelings at the time. DS is 2 now & my reply would be a no for 2 years old, for right now.

Re: Anyone have a McDonald's bday party? Reviews?
I just wanted to add that in my experience most birthday party food is unhealthy. Whether it is greasy pizza, hotdogs, cake/cookies/ice cream..it is not "everyday food" to begin with it is a treat/special day type food so I don't really get the "McD's" is bad for you argument UNLESS you also never let your DC eat any of that type of stuff.

i was thinking the same thing. our options were ice cream parlor, bounce u (serve pizza and cake only), or mc d's. at mc d's at least they get a happy meal where they could choose milk and apples as their side.
but, to each her own--i don't think knowing our immediate family and friends that many would say no due to the food.

I am not big into fast food but I would definitely take my son. I used to love McD's parties when I was a kid- they always had the best cakes!

my friend had her daughters birthday party there. it seemed like a great party!! the kids had a great time. she did pay for the adults choice of meal. i think it lasted less than 2 hours. i don't eat fast food often, but i would totally go.
