That location doesn't have a play place, so what would the kids be doing?

To those who said they wouldn't go-- why not attend and just bring your own food? This is not a flame, I'm just wondering. Like others said... ALL birthday parties involve fairly unhealthy food... usually cheap pizza and cake. And if you truly are that strict about your kid's diet, then your child might as well get used to bringing "different" food because once preschool/kindergarten starts, it's like a nonstop stream of goodies brought in for birthdays and holidays, then birthday parties on weekends, etc.

I am big anti-mcdonalds... but i would make an exception for a bday party! sounds like a great idea especially since you will have a nb.

Same here. My kids have never had McDonald's or any fast food besides a Wendy's hamburger (which my oldest loves but we limit to very infrequently now) or a Five Guys burger (which she also loves but we also make a very infrequent treat).

I would not refuse a birthday party at all there. Honestly, people could always bring a snack for their child if they were adamant about them not eating fast food and then feed them what they want before/after the party so they weren't eating the McD's food. I've done that before when I know there's nothing DD would like at a party!

I plan on doing DS's party there in the future at the Centerreach location. For the price, its great.

And my DS cares more about running around and playing than the food anyway. Wish Mommy was the same, LOL. I LOVE ME SOME FAST FOOD AND PROUD TO SAY IT!!!

There's a back room that has a moving, singing moon man (think the small world characters at disney) and animals. DS and my nephews/niece LLLOOOVVEEEE them! so they have that on, do a craft, eat...i think we'll add the make your own sundae and maybe face painting (which DS hates, but other kids love).

You wanted honest opinions, so personally I would rsvp no. Please no flames. You have to do what works for your family/friends though. I understand that. We just don't eat fast food ever. DD has never had. She also has allergies so that factors in also. If it was a close friend I would invite you for a playdate one day close to the party & make a cake to sing happy bday & give a gift.

Not really flaming but curious-

Allergies are an issue IMO very different from just wanting to shelter your kids from unhealthy foods. How old is your dd? What happens when she is more aware of invitations/foods/life in general and it's not so easy to just rsvp no? My personal concern would be that my kid might go crazy eating unhealthfully bc they weren't taught moderation/coping with these tasty little devils all around us.

See this I agree with.
I think it's important to teach kids that there are unhealthy food choices in the world and guess what? They are OK once in a while. And to teach them about moderation.
I feel like if I shelter her from all bad food chocies she may rebel as a teenager and just go buck wild eating cr@p that she was never allowed to have as a kid.
Kids need to learn that moderation is a good thing and that you can eat "bad" food on special occassions etc
It's unrealistic to think that kids are NEVER going to let a french fry or a burger pass their lips.

Re: Anyone have a McDonald's bday party? Reviews?

THis is a real tough one for me. I am cursed b/c I am a dietitian and food is a huge issue. I don't allow fast food ever, my kids have never been to a fast food restraunt, no soda, juice, nothing from a can or box - all food is homemade. However, they are 2 and almost 4, so they really don't have any clue about McD, etc.

I honestly don't know how I would handle it. Although at parties I let my kids have juice, cake, and pizza can not be compared to fast food in any way (pizza is actually not that bad - unless it is frozen pizza) and is actually a good meal choice for kids.

I wouldn't want to bring my child to a place and not allow him to eat, nor would I want to deprive him of fun with friends. But I think at this age I would say no, unless it was a close friend or family.

I think the pp brought up a good point that you can't expect them never to eat those type of foods, and I know they will eventually have "junk" food, but for now they haven't..

I just wanted to add that in my experience most birthday party food is unhealthy. Whether it is greasy pizza, hotdogs, cake/cookies/ice cream..it is not "everyday food" to begin with it is a treat/special day type food so I don't really get the "McD's" is bad for you argument UNLESS you also never let your DC eat any of that type of stuff.

Exactly. Your kid doesn't necessarily have to eat the food. You can bring your own snack.

To the OP I think it's a good idea and a perfect age for a McDs party. I would do it.

Re: Anyone have a McDonald's bday party? Reviews?

I would rsvp yes and we rarely eat fast food.

what will upset me 100 times more is watching my kids lick the icing off of the cake/cupcakes.
i can't handle watching transfats enter their mouths.

so just use real icing pleaseChat Icon

Re: Anyone have a McDonald's bday party? Reviews?

I'm going to one in Hicksville tomorrow. I'm so excited. DS is only 10 months, so I'll cut up chicken nuggets for him and bring some apple pieces (he only has 2 teeth so I steam little bite sized pieces) for him to have in place of the fries. I don't plan on letting him have McD's and other fast foods, because DH and I did a lot as kids, and now eat WAY too much of it (but we're cutting back...I don't even allow myself in the drive through with DS in the car, even though he's usually asleep and still too young to know what is going on). I will however allow McD's for a party.

Re: Anyone have a McDonald's bday party? Reviews?

I was just asking my co-worker the other day if people still have McDonalds birthday partys. DS is just turning 3 so he hasn't been to too many partys yet.

DS has never had McDonalds, and DH and I very rarely eat fast food. Maybe once every 3-4 months. I would most defientely still RSVP yes. I think he would have a great time. He most likely wouldn't eat much anyway since he doesn't like Chicken nuggets or burgers. The create their own sundae is a great idea.
We try to eat healthy in our house, but I let DS have sweets in moderation. I feel like if you shelter them against all bad food too much, it will back fire. I have seen it happen.
Only thing I'm still strongly against is soda. I'm holding off on that as long as possible.
