Anyone have a sibling with fertility issues?
My sister, who posts on here, does.
I don't know how easy it will be for me to conceive since I'm not trying yet.
I'm almost afraid it will be easy and I'll fell guilty- I feel guilty NOW and I haven't even started trying yet.
I am almost ready to start TTC, but I feel so conflicted about the whole thing. My original plan was to wait until she had baby before I tried, but that has changed.
I guess there's a chance that we'll be pregnant together- but then I feel guilty that we'd both be out of work at the same time (we work together), that my mom will have 2 baby showers to plan (or a combined one I suppose).
Then there's the chance that she won't get pregnant...then I worry she'll resent me if I do.
My sister is my best friend and I want her to have the best of everything. I'm just afraid that I may step on her toes (I'm not sure if that's what I mean...I can't really say...).
I also want my experience to be special and wonderful and, well, I guess unique.
I don't really know what the purpose of this was....I guess I just needed to vent.
I've been thinking about it alot recently and I have this constant knot in my stomach.
Please don't quote...I will probably delete this

Re: Anyone have a sibling with fertility issues?
I think all your feelings are justified. I am going through IF myself, and if I had a sister who was TTC as well and she got pregnant before me or very easily, I would probably be a little jealous, but extremely happy for her. I would talk to her about your feelings.

This is what happened with me. I'm also 6 years older then my sister. I started TTC about 3-4 months before she did, and she ended up getting pregnant right after she came off the pill. I thought it would be fun and exciting to be pregnant together. She announced her pregnancy 2 weeks after my initial IF diagnosis. (she didn't know at that time I had gone for testing), so while I was SO excited for her, at the same time, I had a major pity party of myself. It was extreamly difficult. I'm closing in on just about 2 years of trying to get pregnant. In that time, I've had 2 losses. I am 100% in love with my nephew, but sometimes when we are all together, it still does hurt.
ETA: I've never told my sister how I felt at that time, I never wanted her to feel she couldn't talk to me about her pregnancy.

I don't have a sister but if I did, I probably would not change my plan to TTC based on her, even if it was someone I cared about as much as my sister. However, I would be very careful on what I said around my sister so that I would not hurt her feelings.

Re: Anyone have a sibling with fertility issues?
I think your feelings asre absolutely normal.
I have the opposite case- my brother and SIL are super fertile- 3 pregnancies in less than 3 years. I am always comparing myself to them- worried that it won't happen as fast for me b/c of my endometriosis. It's hard not to compare myself to them.

dont know if this counts but...
my sister was diagnosed with Incompetent Cervix... now i have the same thing..
i truly believe that "some" issues are hereditary even though it can not be proven.

Yes...I wound up sending her the link.
She knows how I feel and assures me that she wouldn't resent me or anything...it's more my own issue I think. I overanalyze and overthink everything....but the feelings are there.
I don't mean to make it "about me" either.
I guess things will happen as they're supposed to.
Who knows- maybe she'll get pregnant next month and I won't for 2 years...
Thanks for the responses ladies.

Re: Anyone have a sibling with fertility issues?
I understand how you feel but seeing how close you both are, I'm sure whomever gets preggo first will be over the moon for the other.
Another thing is that we have no control as to how short/long this process will take. Unfortunately, we can't plan our lives around others.
It's a very happy and exciting time and I'm sure your sis will be there for you as you would for her.
