Anyone have a Tempur-Pedic mattress?

Do you like it? Is it a big difference?

I am also wondering if it is cheaper to buy it at Sleepies vs Brookstone or other places that sell them - or is it a fixed price from the company and they all cost the same regardless of where you purchase it?? Chat Icon

Re: Anyone have a Tempur-Pedic mattress?

Well we have a "bob-o-pedic"....Supposed to be the same only from Bob's discount furniture. First i will say i will never shop there again but that is besides the point. I LOVED the bed in the beginning. I couldn't feel DH get int he bed at night. As the months went on, we have had the bed since April, i can now feel every move he makes.

LIke i said i got it from bob's so i don't know how the real tempurpedics work but if you go with one please let me know. I'd like to know if i got screwed on my bedroom set as well as my LR set. Good luck!

Tempur-Pedic mattresses are price controlled. The difference is the density of the foam. Tempur-Pedic is the highest density you can buy now. Denesity is the memory of the foam to come back.

In his professional opinion Chat Icon does he think they are good?

We are looking into buying one b/c I am *NOT* sleeping like I used to - especially since before I started sleeping w/ the bear - err, I mean DH.

He said that he's sold many and people LOVE them. But you have to lay down on one to see for yourself. Comfort is personal....as per dh...Chat Icon

Thank you! Now, I know you said they are price controlled but I always see Sleepies commercials that say they beat every price - do they mean every price but Tempur-Pedic??

Brookstone is selling a "deluxe" Queen for $2,599 - is Sleepies less?

No, Sleepy's is not less (it's the same price)...but the difference is he can offer you free delivery, two free pillows of your choice (not just the $99 neck pillows) and a special bed liner designed for tempur-pedic.

We are def going to go to Sleepies when we get it - which one does he work out of??

I'll have to keep it in mind - we are going to buy it by the absolute latest: August b/c it is for our wedding anniversary in September... but we will prob buy it sooner - whenever we save up the cash. Chat Icon

Re: Anyone have a Tempur-Pedic mattress?

I went to Sleepworks in Massapequa and Sleepys in Plainview.

We ended up buying our latex bed at Sleepworks but DH was in love with the tempurpedic. I hated it. I felt like I was laying on sand.

It's very personal, but I had a very good experience at Sleepworks. Not so much at Sleepys. We walked out of there with the salesman practically chasing us down offering us more money off the closer we walked to the door.

Sleepworks had 3 levels of beds and the main level had all of the tempurpedics. They have all price points. Too bad for DH we didn't get one but he absolutely wanted to.

That's why my dh always says that comfort is such a personal thing. With the Tempur-Pedic mattress, you either love it or you hate it.

Re: Anyone have a Tempur-Pedic mattress?

I've had the Bob-o-Pedic for two years and still am as in love with it as the day we bought it. It was only about $1100 and nowadays they have a Bob-o-Pedic LITE that is pretty nice for a guest room or even kids (so they say).

But, I highly recommend the Bob-o-Pedic!

And he's very right. Chat Icon

We had convinced ourselves that we wanted a Tempur Pedic before we even walked into the store. Then we layed on them a few times and decided against it.

I don't dislike them because they're bad - I just don't like the way it feels. It's a really unique experience, you have to feel it for yourself. Chat Icon

Re: Anyone have a Tempur-Pedic mattress?

I have heard from friends that they are very hot, because of the material. I've heard that you sweat like crazy from more than one person, but I have no experience myself.

Re: Anyone have a Tempur-Pedic mattress?

When we went to Sleepy's we'd heard that they are very hot to sleep on.

Stefanie, I wish I knew your husband worked for Sleepy's! I just bought my mattress there over the weekend!! I would have gone to him!

I must say, I was really impressed with them. I didn't realize that I would need low profile box springs and I called them after the bed was delivered (I felt like I was sleeping on my ceiling fan because my bed was so high) and they switched them out for me, no questions asked, the same day, with no charges or anything! Very satisfied customer, here!

Re: Anyone have a Tempur-Pedic mattress?

My Mom bought one in September and absolutely LOVES IT!!! She got it from Sleepy's and when she lay down on one in the showroom, that was it. She had to wait a week for delivery, and every day of that week was torture for her. She wanted to set fire to her old bed. Go for it!

Re: Anyone have a Tempur-Pedic mattress?

We had the Tempurpedic for 60 days and opted to return it. We were one of the people who found the bed to be extremely hot. We ended up with traditional mattress and are very happy with it.
