anyone have a thyroid issue?

This week has been an emotional roller coaster. We've only been "trying" for a month, so I can't complain too badly, I guess, but I am SO sad. I got a BFP on Thanksgiving that you all helped me interpret - nice and clear on the digital test I took that night. Friday was awesome. Saturday I started bleeding. Sunday night I took a HPT and got a BFN. I went for bloodwork on Monday and they said there's no HCG in my blood levels. I'm waiting for the Dr to call back b/c she had said to me on the phone Monday that it could have been false positives on the HPTs (all 4 of them?! Have you ever heard of that???).

In another turn of events, I had to go to the dr because they noticed a nodule on my thyroid. Well, I just got home from the endocrinologist and I feel like throwing something through the wall. He tells me my #'s are high (6.47) and that I have Hashimoto's disease, or an underactive thyroid. Guess what a side effect of that is? You've got it - miscarriages and infertility. So, of course I pretty much started crying right there when he said it to me. He's putting me on Synthroid and I put a call into my GYN, but man, I am so depressed.

I'm afraid to even try again now if this is going to happen again.

Do any of you girls have a thyroid problem and were OK with a previous pg?

I too have hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) and yes my doctor did tell me that miscarraige is highly likely IF it is not treated with Synthroid, etc. He said that once you find the correct dosage....and continue to take your meds, you should be able to have a healthy pregnancy. My sister too has it and she has had 2 healthy babies.

I truly have no advice but wanted to tell you to please not give up. As the PP said you can take care of this problem Please, stay positive!

I have a very bad underactive thyroid and PCOS and I was able to have a on 50 mg of Clomid... Good luck!!

crashing... I have an underactive thyroid - it was borderline while we were TTC and probably tipped the scales at some point before I got pregnant, but I wasn't put on meds until early in my pregnancy - I alerted my OB that my thyroid had been borderline for years but I had not been on meds so we checked it, got results back quick, and I was put on Synthroid right away - all was fine, my DD is now 10 months. it's so good that you are aware of this so that you can be monitored and deal with it and the fact that I wasn't on meds while TTC is probably partly responsible for the difficulties we had and the need to go on clomid. good luck to you.
