anyone have a Thyroid problem?
And were your tests ( TSH, T3, T4) always the same or do they vary?
And can it just come on suddenly?
I may be worrying prematurely, but my TSH came back elevated , and the Dr is going to re-run the tests but said the previous one was borderline high as well and in the "at risk" category.
BUT...I had a routine physical in April and my TSH was ok. On the higher end of the scale but not abnormal.
Can things change so fast?

Re: anyone have a Thyroid problem?
My thyroid levels were elevated a few months ago. My liver enzymes were and still are a bit high. I take prednisone to regulate it. My thyroid condition has went back to being normal.
Yes, to your question. I think they can change very fast!! Are you seeing an endcrinologist or an internist??

Re: anyone have a Thyroid problem?
Just looked at my thyroid test from a few months. All three t levels were in range. Back in April, they were all off and very whacky.
In April, my TSH levels were out of range.

Re: anyone have a Thyroid problem?
This was from my Endo....
T4 is normal to low, TSH highly elevated...indiccating hypothyrodism (sp?) or further testing.
They are re-doing them before anything.
Last month same T3 and T4 and TSH was on the very high end ...like 4.0 and the high range ends at 4.0. they said anything over 2.5 something was to be" watched? I hope Im saying this right...LOL
Boosh- The TSH is thyroid stimulating hormone . I have no clue what T3 and T4 are.

Re: anyone have a Thyroid problem?
An Endo is the right person to get treated for this. You might have to go on meds to regulate it. Synthroid is what people normally take. I had mine rechecked last month, it was in the normal range. I see a hepatologist for my liver.

Re: anyone have a Thyroid problem?
T3 and T4 shows which area of the thyroid is not functioning properly. If the few people that have problems (very small % of the population) with the T4 they will not respond to Synthroid.
Hope that helps.

Re: anyone have a Thyroid problem?
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism mid-July. It's most likely Hashimoto disease, which is an autoimmune disease. My TSH was at 150! So far out of the normal range that my gyno said she had never seen anything like it. I went to an endocronologist and started Levoxyl. I'm going back at the end of this month. I hope my levels have gone down!!!

i had had my levels come back slightly high 5 yrs ago and just got it checked and they're still only borderline. so even if its slightly high, it may take a long time for you to have to be treated for it so I wouldnt worry too much.

I agree. I have a thyroid problem and have been on synthroid for 6 years now. My level numbers were always going up & down until the Dr. was able to regulate my medication.

One of my best friends is going through this now. She noticed her eyes being puffier and it's due to her thyroid. They only started running tests now so I don't know what level she is.
She has been feeling really down and worried but I told her that I don't think it's life threatening and noone has told her that.

I think its very treatable from what I hear....I know family wise in DHS family a lot of the women have it, and none of them suffer from any issues...I just am a worry wart about health...But I didnt and dont think its not treatable.
thanks again all!

You must likely will be on meds for the rest of your life- but it's not meds meds- it's replacing something your body is not absorbing!
They might not raise it when you are PG- mine didn't move until after I had DD and then infact they decreased me
Don't bank on the losing weight thing- I didn't

Re: anyone have a Thyroid problem?
I know that was the one high point for me too but then again I went with the attitude after I got on the meds- ah I can eat this crap because the synthroid will make me lose it-- So that MIGHT be part of the problem--but after I had DD I was slightly hyper and the weight was falling off soooooooooooo nicely until they decreased me I am going to beg the dr to up me again but I know she won't do it but there is always hope

Well I believe Im on a low dose anyhow, so I guess my hopes are far fetched as well
On a serious note, what the Dr. did say was how hypothyroid patients have an increased rate of stillborns and M/C's and could possible have been why I had both, although theres no way to prove it, so I'm a little sad about that, but happy that when I do get PG again , the medicine will help prevent that if related to the thyroid condition...
