Anyone pregnant with a thyroid problem?
Is there anyone pregnant that also has a thyroid problem? Are you doing anything different?

Re: Anyone pregnant with a thyroid problem?
I had thyroid cancer 3 years ago, so I had my thyroid removed. I'm on Synthroid now, and I need to see my endocrinologist every 6-8 weeks during my pregnancy to monitor and adjust my levels. I'm not really doing anything different, but I'll tell you...I'm totally exhausted all the time. My dr. said get used to it, because that's how it's going to be my whole pregnancy. Fun stuff. Not sure if this helps you specifically, but let me know if you have questions.

Re: Anyone pregnant with a thyroid problem?
Yes, it is helpful. I have an overactive thyroid and have to see the endocrinologist once a month to be monitored. Everything is under control while on Synthroid, but I am also exhausted all the time. I thought it would go away after the first trimester, but it really hasn't. I didn't know if you were doing anything else differently. Thanks.

Re: Anyone pregnant with a thyroid problem?
I have a friend with a thyroid problem. It's ok now but it can come back. She wants the problem to be gone before she starts to conceive. But can't she still be pregnant with a thyroid problem. Would it hurt the baby?
She's in her 30's.

I don't think it can hurt the baby if it kept under control (for me, that is by taking medication).

Re: Anyone pregnant with a thyroid problem?
I have hypothyroidism and took synthroid all pregnancy long, just like I did before I became pregnant. The only thing differently I did, was see my endo. more frequently and we stayed away from adjusting my dosage while pregnant. She didn't want to change anything related to all the swiches of harmones and all. The pregnancy went well and Frankie is healthy!
