anyone have a unique way of announcing their pregnancy?

to DHs and family? i mean, ive thought of the old setting an extra place at the dinner table and stuff, but......anything different anyone here did?

my mother has 9 grandkids right now- 6 boys and 3 girls...i was going to send her a boquet of pink and blue roses (6 blue, 3 pink) and leave one white and see if she gets it....

and no, this isnt for me yet......im just counting the eggs before their fertilized i guess.....im still waiting for AF (day 48!)

For my DH I gave him a baby bib from his fave team. What I really wanted to do was put a pair of baby shoes in his closet with his shoes and see if he figured it out, but then I found the bib which I knew he'd love.

For my mom and ILs we gave them "I love my grandma" or whatever bibs with a note from the baby pinned on with a diaper pin. It said something like "See you on or about February 24th! Love, Baby B"

ETA: My SIL's brother wrapped up a really pretty frilly little pink dress and gave that to his mom. It was really cute, but he'd waited until they knew the gender to spill the beans.

DS walked around with a tshirt that said "I'm going to be a Big Brother"!!!!! It was a hit!!!!!!!!!!!

For our families, we made a dvd slideshow of pics set to the song "What a wonderful world / Over the Rainbow" by IZ.

When it got to the part "and I hear babies crying..." the pic of our ultrasound came on the screen with a subtitle "Arriving in December 2006".

We sent it to our parents for Mother's Day. It was the best gift they ever got!

We bought Emily a shirt that said "I'm going to be a big sister!". I took a pic of her wearing the shirt and sent it to my family out of state but she wore it for my other local relatives

well it wasnt too unique but

the first time, we were talking about our anniversary, and our plans, "guess what WE;RE doing for our anniv this year ??? well our plans were to go to the hospital to have a baby (he was due a few days before our anniv, and born the day after) it did catch them offguard and flip them out.

2nd time, I think we just made him say "mommy's having a baby" or Im gonna be a big brother.

and the 3rd time we announced it Xmas eve (my son yelled REALLY LOUDDD, hey everyone mommy's having a baby).
and found out later that evening that my SIL had been having trouble TTC for # 2. (they still are)...

and then he yelled it at random at playgrounds, playgroups, etc

we invited the whole family over, when everyone was about to eat DH changed his shirt to one that said "my boys can swim" and we put a tshirt on my niece that said "i'm going to be a big cousin"

For DH I threw the Preg. test at him and cried!

For the family we did a pink and blue carnation, and wrote a little poem about how baby couldn't wait to meet them in Feb. (funny thing is we had 2 puppies at the time and they thought we were getting another puppy in feb. )

Ours was a mistake. My SIL was pregnant and everyone was commenting on how big her boobs got(we are a strange and close family )

DH said, I can't wait until my wife looks like that in a couple of months! He didn't realize what he said until everyone was going nuts!

This time we made my parents a family tree (well I made) and then put the babys due date on one of the branches. It was cute and last minute. But unlike the first time (I gave them bibs and a note) they got it right away!

With my second, we put a shirt on Andrew that said "I'm the Big Brother". Not everyone got it. I have a slow family.

cute shirt!

the 1st time around we waited until Christmas and had the both sets of parents open their gifts at the same time (we celebrate together). They opened up a bib about loving grandma and a baby robe etc. My mother in law didn't get it she thought we were buying clothes for our cat who we just got!!! Until DH sister yelled out OMG she's pregnant!!!!!!

We did the shirt thing too but all our family lives over 8 hours away so I took a picture and made a card!

With Ava, I just drove to my mom's house and threw the pregnancy test at her

With Jack my mom and I were walking through the mall and she asked if she could buy me anything (it was around Mother's Day). She said it just as we were walking past Motherhood Maternity and I said yes, that would be great and walked into the store. She started SCREAMING in the middle of the mall. The poor saleswoman was ready to call security on us

Telling DH both times wasn't thought out - I just showed him the test when he came home from work.

My girlfriend did something cute - she took a picture of the positive test and put it on the computer as the background - her husband flipped out when he turned the computer on that night

We didn't do anything cute when I was pg with DS.

When we get pg again (hopefully soon ) I bought a "Grow A Big Brother" toy from dollar tree and I am going to have DS ask his dad to help him put it in the water. Then Im going to switch it with the +hpt for DH to see the next morning.

For our families we plan on getting the big brother tshirt.

his brother is expecting their 2nd baby and have an online guessing pool...

if we get preg this or next month, we will put in a guess from "my maiden name/married name Baby" and for the how am i related.. we'll put Cousin to be - see you in "due date month". and see how long it takes someone to notice it!
