Anyone have a vacuum they love? Please rec!!!
We are in need of a new vacuum but I have never had one that I thought actually worked well. We have hard wood floors and most of the rooms have an area rug. We need something that ideally can reach under the couch and also convenient for cleaning the runner on the stairs.
Any recommendations?!!

Re: Anyone have a vacuum they love? Please rec!!!
We recently purchased the Dyson canister vacuum. I held off for a long time because I didn't believe the Dyson hype & I really dislike uprights. We have all wood with area rugs too & I also like to get under furniture easily. The Dyson has great suction, the bagless dirt compartment is really easy to empty, the attachments work great & store well on the vacuum with falling off or getting in the way. The best is the dyson canister can stand up and balance on stairs without blocking the exhaust so its not a constant battle up the entire staircase. We have dogs that shed, so I vacuum several times a week & the design/ease of use is really important to me.
I honestly have no dislikes so far. This is the model we bought

I have the dyson ball...the yellow one. I too wasn't going to get myself into the dyson frenzy but my boss from my old job bought me it for my shower 2 years ago LOL. We have mainly hardwood flloors and tons of throw rugs... it never eats the rugs, and picks up every single little piece of dirt. My ONLY complaint is that the cord would be all of 4 feet longer. I am able to do my whole houes, besides the last 4 feet, then I need to come back and unplug it HA. It's easy to clean, has aweseom suction, and it's a sinch to use the hose part.

Kenmore Progressive. I have the white one. It's excellent.
It's only my 3rd vacuum in 25 years.
I've always had Kenmores.

Kenmore canister vac from Sears.
This vacuum is so great that my mom actually bought one after she came to help me clean when DS#1 was born.
And my mom has a weakness for vacuums -- she's one of the ladies who spent $1500 on the Rainbow vacuum in the late '90's.

We have a Eureka Boss 4D. Very good. According to all the independent review sites I've seen, many brands have better suction than a Dyson, but half the price. Any new vacuum will be better than any old vacuum.
