Anyone have acrylic nails?
I removed my nails today and when I did I found that my thumb has a light green stain on it.
Anyone ever get this? Should I see a Dr or will I be ok treating it at home?
It doesn't hurt or itch.

Re: Anyone have acrylic nails?
you could have developed a fungus on your nail. its never happened to me--but i've seen friends who had that happen.
maybe wait and see if it continues to remain green? if so you might need some anti-fungal nail treatment.

Re: Anyone have acrylic nails?
this happened to me a long time ago when I use to get acrylic and not have a new set put on every 2 months or so. It's definitely fungus. I never put anything on it, and it eventually went away. But you certainly can put cream on it and it will go away faster.

You can put cream on it but it will grow out as your nails get longer.

Re: Anyone have acrylic nails?
It's harmless, it usually develops if your nail (the acrylic part) was lifting and water got in between. It will grow out with your nail, just stick to darker nail polishes in the meantime

Re: Anyone have acrylic nails?
you need to medicate it. They sell it in CVS near the nail stuff it is a fungicide. Def put it on asap it doesnt go away on its own
As someone else said u get it when water or moisture gets between your acrylic and your real nail

its fungus from not having a tight seal on the nail and water got it it will go away on its own you can file the area to lighten it and it will grow out with your nail

Re: Anyone have acrylic nails?
I dont, but developed a nail fungus twice under my big toe nail(the reason why i wont go to a nail salon for pedis anymore). The only thing that worked for me (besides just giving it time to grow out) was Vicks vapo-rub. It lightened it up and helped break it down.

Re: Anyone have acrylic nails?
There are different types of fungus and everyone has different reactions. I have had it and it just grew out. My cousin on the other hand tried to ignore it and it got worse. She ended up taking antibiotics AND having to rub a cream on it every day so I would keep an eye on it.

Thanks so much for you help and tips ladies. I am going to try some otc remedies and keep an eye on it. Hopefully it's not something I have to see a dr about.
