Anyone have dogs but are allergic to them?
What do you do to help reduce the allergens?
I've had allergies for awhile now...we've had the dogs for 5 years now and my allergies have gotten worse. I just got an allergy test done last week and am allergic to cats, dogs and dust...I take allegra and use flunase
anyone else allergic to their pets??

Re: Anyone have dogs but are allergic to them?
I'm allergic to cats but after about 2 weeks of having the specific cat in my home I build up a tolerance to that specific cat and I'm ok. When we got our new cats I suffered for about 2 weeks and just took Zyrtec. Now I'm fine around them...

Re: Anyone have dogs but are allergic to them?
you can get shots. they work very well. I have not done them but I have a freind and my MIL who get them. At the begining you have to go alot, but the longer you get them, the less you have to go. you would go to your alergy Dr for this. but the day you get the shots, you can't take any allergy meds
I switched to Allergra D and found a huge difference. I used to take Allergra

I am allergic to cats and dogs and I have both. I go for shots and they work pretty well. Sometimes the pills arent enough. They dont even work for me.

I think it would greatly help to keep the dogs out of your bedroom at all times so you don't have to sleep with the allergens. Also, wash their bedding and towels frequently and vacuum constantly. I think these things will help a lot to reduce your allergies and if you decide to do the pills and or shots that will help along with it even more. Also remember that seasonal allergies are really bad right now too and that could be contributing if you aren't feeling well.

I am very allergic to dogs, but I have a chihuahua. I am not really sure if it is just that breed I am okay with, but other dogs if they lick me I break out in a rash and start sneezing etc. I honestly think I am just used to him and developed a tolerance.
