I didnt have this exact one you are talking about, but I did buy a bebe sounds heart monitor w/ headphones and it was garbage. Didnt work at all... I think renting a doppler would be your best bet. I have it too and it says it doesnt work until week 30... I got it a few weeks ago, and it just amplifies all sounds... and I have yet to hear the babies heartbeat... but I can hear my stomach growling real loud!! I got it because I fell.. and I was nervous.. but it made me more nervous!!!! hth!

I believe it doesn't have as strong a frequency as the dopplers. I'll have the baby by the time you are in your third trimester so you can borrow mine!
