Re: anyone have info on SOY allergies???
Just had this issue with my son. He has a severe milk protein/soy allergy. We started using rice in his bottles about a month ago and he was doing alright at first. Then his sleeping patterns changed and he was cranky a lot. Then I started to notice there was mucous in his BM's. So I looked it up and found out that the Gerber rice we were using had some type of soy in it. And our Pedi GI told us to use that one. So I stopped using the rice 3 days ago and my son has gone back to his normal self. I found that Earths Best has no soy in it. I picked up a box of that yesterday. But I am going to wait a week to give it to him.

YES - that is the one box of rice cereal that i have that does NOT have any type of soy listed in their ingredients! i'm going to have to check out their other products - oatmeal, etc.
i just read this on a website: Apparently some children do tolerate soy oil and/or soy lecithin. It is a good discussion to have with your child’s allergist to determine if any soy needs to be in your soy allergic child’s diet.

Re: anyone have info on SOY allergies???
Right now my son is on an amino based formula. It has no dairy or soy in it. The pedi suggested using the rice to help with his reflux. Which it did. I will have to ask about it at his next appointment. Thanks.

Re: anyone have info on SOY allergies???
If you are looking for ingredients to avoid for an elimination diet, I like FAAN's How to read a label They have info on the 7 most common food allergens (Dairy, Soy, Egg, Wheat, Peanut, Tree Nut & Shellfish).
I keep a copy of the dairy one in my wallet for when I'm shopping and not sure, and I also keep one on my fridge for times when someone brings something over and I can check quick or if someone is babysitting and not sure if something is safe for him.

Re: anyone have info on SOY allergies???
My DS is allergic to dairy and soy.My GI doctor said that about 70% of babies that can't tolerate milk proteins can't have soy either. I'm on a dairy/soy free diet and almost all processed foods contain some form of soy.
