Anyone have Young America built-to-grow sleigh crib?

We just assembled this crib, and even on the highest setting it looks like the mattress will be very low. I am thinking it will be difficult to pick up and put the baby down in the crib, since it is so low.

Does anyone who has this or a similar crib use a box spring or anything else underneath the mattress to make it easier to reach the baby?

We have a Young America set and I thought it looked low too when we put it together but honestly, it was fine. I had no problems getting my DD in or out of the crib.
