Re: anyone here have post-partum gall stones or hernia?

OMG!! I have been having similar issues for the last week. I have been complaining to DH that I need to go to the doctor because I think something is wrong. I started off getting nauseous in the morning. Now I have been having burning sensations in my stomach to the point I cant walk. I have been also having a lot of intestinal issues and a lot of cramping in my stomach. Now for the past two days I have been getting a lot of lower back pain. Not sure if it is related or not.
I have had a problem in the past with High amounts of H Pylori in system. It wasn't an Ulcer but I guess close to it. I was thinking that may be my problem again, but this post has made me re-think that.

I have a question, has anyone had more of a reaction after certain foods. I have been eating very healthy lately and after fruit, I'm in so much pain.

Re: anyone here have post-partum gall stones or hernia?

Ask for the patient advocate. Tell them 1. how long you have been there. 2. what tests they have done. 3. ask when you can expect to be seen.

FWIW - When I had my emergency gall bladder surgery I arrived at the hospital at midnight. I was alone b/c DH had to watch DS and he couldn't be in the ER with me. I was in agony. I could barely breathe, I was vomiting blood. The ER doctors did not come to see me for what felt like an hour. In reality it was more likely 20 minutes. The nice drunk man in the curtain area next to mine called for the doctor to see me. I could barely make sounds, I was whimpering. He heard me, and he called out for them to help me. I am forever grateful to the drunk man for getting the doctor to help me.

The doctor came in. He said what hurt, and gave me drugs. I slept until about 8 am. I was not allowed to eat or drink anything. As it was the weekend, they had to call in some specialist to administer this test where they gave me some radioactive dye. I was told I could not hold or be near DS for 48 hours and no nursing for 96 hours.

I remember that during the test they gave me some drug and it literally made me silent. The technician had the nurse stay with me. I think they gave me to much medicine. I don't know what it was. The test took 3 hours to complete. I was still not permitted anything to eat or drink but was given IV fluids. There was some concern that instead of my gall bladder it was something else. I asked for a second opinion and the chief of the ER was brought in. I told him about my earlier experiences and from that point on he took over my care. He kicked the other doctors out and got in someone from a different group. The surgery was not performed until 8 pm. It was lap. As I was told then, the doctor will try lap but it depends upon what they see when they go in to determine if it will be a lap or a full surgery. After the surgery I was told I was less than 30 minutes from a ruptured gall bladder. I was not permitted to eat anything until lunch the next day.

As for the floating staple apparently it was in my abdomen. The only reason my obgn saw it was that I had a cyst on an u/s so he was looking for it. It was not one that would have been used in a c/s. Apparently they use different types.

Re: anyone here have post-partum gall stones or hernia?

hey Jess... elevated bilirubin Biliary Dyskinesia, and biliary colic.

Dilation/blockage in my bile duct. No gall stones, but gall bladder needs to come out. it wasn't a "cut me open ASAP" kind of thing though. They pumped me full of pain meds intravenously and sent me home this morning with painkillers, and I'll have the surgery early next week.

Re: anyone here have post-partum gall stones or hernia?

dr's thought I had gall stones and did a sonogram too , had all symptons but no stones.
however they did find that I have diastis recti- abdominal separtation and the abdomen muscle near my gall bladder is very separated causing distress to area and pain.
I still get pain when I eat anything gassy, very sensitive to touch- cannot press on my belly and the only way to fix it is by surgery. blah,
hope you feel better!
