Anyone interested in starting a book club?: Updated with Book Choice and Date!

I know it's been attempted before...but would anyone be interested in doing a book club here, but meeting in person? I'm willing to host at my house.

I have been looking for a book club on meetup and I just cant make Sunday afternoons and it seems like thats when they all meet. So I considered starting one and thought I'd ask here first since so few people in my life like so read Chat Icon

Just figured I'd through this out there. I live in Suffolk (Coram).

Update:

1st Meeting will be Sat. Dec. 3 at 11am to discuss the book The Boy Who Came Back From Heaven by Kevin & Alex Malarkey.

FM me for info if you'd like to come, everyone is welcome.

Re: Anyone interested in starting a book club?

i started one with a girl on LIW, but it kinda faded out..I'd be interested, depending on when/how often you meet

i just can't host at my house ever..(or at least until i actually have somewhere other than my parents to live Chat Icon )

I don't mind being the primary or even permanent host. DH can find some other way to occupy himself whatever night/day it is!

I would be --- and I could host it sometimes as well -- only thing is I live ALL the way out east (Sag Harbor) -- don't know if many/any of you live east

I would be interested in joining a book club. I'm in N. Babylon and wouldn't mind hosting.

What days would work best for everyone? For me weeknights are usually the best, my weekends are always so crazy.

Tuesday is date night -- other than that, it would have to end before 8, since that is my bed time Chat Icon

I would love to join a book club. I am in Patchogue and could host as well. As long as DH brings the dogs upstairs to be with him lol..

Re: Anyone interested in starting a book club?

Does anyone want to try for a December meeting? First or second week maybe so it's not too close to the holidays (it can depend on what book we choose). I can host the first time and from there we can set a second date and pick a new host for next time.

Thoughts?

I would be interested. I live in Long Beach. I could host as well as long and people do not mind a dog and a cat, lol!

Re: Anyone interested in starting a book club?

My Mom has a book club back home (in Vermont) but since I CLEARLY don't make it to those meetings, she emails me the book they "assign." Then after we have both read it, we talk about it. Do you think that those of you who can get together could post the book(s) you decide to read, and then we could also hold an on-line discussion of what we thought? I live right outside of Queens, and my husband works irregular hours, so I would not be able to do meetings out east. Chat Icon

Here's dates based on my own personal availability...then anything that doesn't work for anyone can just be crossed off the list:

Dec:
1
2
3 (if it's during the day)
5
6 (I know this date will be crossed of bc someone posted no Tuesdays)
7
8
12

I'm not going to go past the 12th bc that may get too close to the holidays for some people.

I'd be willing to, but last time we tried that it flunked. We can always try again though...

I don't mind doing online discussion as an aside to an actual book club....but all of my work involves me being on a computer I really am looking to get off of it thats why I want to do an actual book club. If it's only going to be online I'll probably pass, I can't take much more of the computer. I dont mean to sound like a b!tch but I just am trying to do things that dont involve more computer time.

OK! I would love to do a book club in person, but it seemed like no one was able to do it. Let's try to meet up! Are we picking a book?

Oh thank you so much! I'm open to pretty much anything, do you have a book suggestion?

What dates do work for you?
