Anyone kids get a reaction to the chicken pox vaccine or the flu mist?
Peyton got both on thurs and now she has 102 fever and a runny nose. She is complaining about her tongue hurting (she is only 2 1/2)maybe she means something else. Neither of my kids(9yrs old and 2 1/2) have ever gotten the flu shot or mist until now and now I am for not sticking with gut. Also I do not think my older DD got the chicken pox vaccine when she was little(not sure) I think it may not have been available yet.

It could be from the flu mist. I do give the flu shot but I won't give the mist b.c it is known to have more possible side effects. I hope she feels better soon. Neither of my girls have had a reaction to the regular preservative free shots though.
DD#1 did get a fever and a rash from the chicken pox shot - DD#2 did not.

I was told by my Ped that the only "common" side effect to the mist is nasal congestion. He knows that I have never done the flu shot thing over the past 9 years and he has never pushed me. Last year we decided together to give it to DD#1 because she has some pretty serious respiratory issues. She had no reaction. In a spur of the moment decision, I gave it to DD#2 the other day. I am sure there is no way of knowing which is giving her the fever.

I agree with the other posters (I gave the shot and not the mist bc I was told the mist is the live virus(not sure) so that ma be where the side effects are coming from????
I went with my gut to and ended up doing the flu shot this year..in the long run I think you made a good decision. It will be nice to have a little bit of a piece of mind about the flu this year

DS got a huge lump on his legs and a rash (red pimples) all over his legs from the Chicken Pox shot. Never had the flu so not sure.

This is off the FDA's website and what I was told in the past:
What are the most common side effects of FluMist? In children, side effects can include nasal congestion, runny nose, headache, muscle aches, and slight fever. In adults, side effects can include runny nose, headache, sore throat, tiredness/weakness, muscle aches and cough. Fever is not a common side effect in adults.
